Engagement Announcement

Son1 and girlfriend got engaged over the weekend…

They went camping with her family and friends…

So son1 came armed with an engagement ring…

He had planned to propose to her four wheeling in the jeep to the top of a summit over looking Shaver Lake…

She didn’t want to go four wheeling so she stayed behind at the campsite…

Before dinner the younger couples all went for a walk and came across a bridge…

Son1 seized the opportunity…

Only one other person in the group knew he was going to propose so they were able to take pictures…

Girlfriend has no idea…

Son1 had the ring on his finger and whispered in her ear his proposal…

IMG_0061

Today was a nice quiet Saturday… I have the weekend off and I am trying to relax and enjoy it… I have been a bit grumpy this week… Ok a lot grumpy if you count Wednesday when I lost it and went off on poor hubby… don’t you just love mood swings… I would say it’s just being a woman… but then son2 has them too… so gotta love those hormones of life…

Today I was up early with a bit of a headache so had some quiet time on the laptop playing frontierville… hubby was up next and made breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, corn beef hash and English muffins… the boys were up for breakfast and then I did a bit of online ordering for hubby and my vitamins and birthday shopping for son1 and son3… their bdays are July 25 and July 24… hubby and I then showered and got dressed and went on about a five mile walk… we walked to the new neighborhood park they built that has a loop trail behind it… the trees are all brand new so no shade on the trail for a few years yet… but it was nice to be able to just be together and talk without the boys interrupting… the boys stayed home to watch My Little Pony… supposed to be all the rage among girls and boys at the moment… all new cartoons though not the ones from when we were kids… Now I’m making dinner and we have Battle Los Angeles to watch tonight…

IMG_0065

Only three and a half more weeks til school starts… the boys have done nothing but watch tv and play video games… son2 did read two books; Eragon, Eldest and is now on the third book in the series; Brisingr… Son3 has picked out books to read but that is as far as he has got… I’m reading The Ignored by Bentley Little… Not as freaky as some of his books but still out there… they did color too for a few days with son1… I’ll have to post their pictures…

IMG_0066

Son1 is off camping this weekend with girlfriend and her family… AND he is going to propose, tonight I think… he picked out her engagement ring at Roger’s Jewelers… he had also bought her promise ring there too so they have a deal that if you bring back the last ring they will use it toward the down payment on the next ring… so he got over $300 credit toward the engagement ring… the hard part was getting the promise ring from her without her suspecting… so the jeweler said to tell her that it was time for her annual cleaning and maintenance… she handed it over Thursday night without a thought… now we are just hoping that she isn’t disappointed in the promise ring being gone for sentimental reasons… son1 went to the jeweler on Friday morning to pick up the engagement ring and have it sized… and then met girlfriend for camping Friday night with story being that he can’t pick up the promise ring til Saturday morning and they would be camping… they are camping at Dinky Creek and has plans of taking her up to the fire look out where you could see Shaver Lake and the surrounding valley and proposing… I’m sure she will say YES as she gave him a picture recently of the rings she likes as they had planned on getting engaged once they had been together two years…

Time to eat dinner………

IMG_0067

Dinner was good… Turkey burgers, au gratin potatoes, macaroni, chicken strips and other leftovers… I didn’t much care for the Battle Los Angeles so I checked out the pinning at Pinterest… Then we had sherbet or ice cream… I had Arbor Mist in my Sherbet and watched a couple episodes of Angel… Now it’s almost 11pm and time for bed…

IMG_0068

Tomorrow hubby and I will be going to Target, Dollar Store and Harbor Freights for toilet paper, cat food, laundry soap and more birthday shopping…

On this day, God wants you to know

... that you can't rid the world of sorrow, but you can choose to live in joy. Sorrow is with us not because we are bad at stopping it, but simply because it's part of being human. What matters is not whether good or bad things happen - both will, but your relationship to them. Just think back over the last 24 hours, - what had you taken hard that you could have taken lightly?

On this day, God wants you to know

... that it is the day of deep peace for you. Deep peace of the running wave to you. Deep peace of the quiet earth to you. Deep peace of the flowing air to you. Deep peace of the shining star to you.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that when people tell you nice things, stop shrugging them off as if they are nothing. The sincere compliments you receive are your jewels, - collect them in your heart, - they highlight the beauty of your being and empower you during challenging times. Never say 'oh, it's nothing' or shrug your shoulders when you hear a sincere compliment. Pause, breathe it in, and really feel its m

On this day, God wants you to know

... that you cannot let this day pass without telling the people you love that you love them. Do not take for granted the people closest to your heart. Nothing is permanent, celebrate them now.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that when what you are doing is not working, do something else. Anything else. You'll only get the same results if you do what you have always done.

Pictures are still from when we went to Monterey in June but on the Pacific Grove side…

IMG_0051

I was up at 4am this morning and at our store by 5:30am to pick everyone up… we got to the Merced store and we were working by 6:45am… the time went way fast and I don’t feel we helped much as they were still counting when we left just after 1pm and they still have tomorrow to finish counting… we were back at our store by 2:30pm and I was home before 3pm… I am so tired… I will be in bed on time tonight… and then back at work tomorrow… we're putting out the women’s winter boots tomorrow…

IMG_0052

Hubby had an uneventful day at work today… found a large business section that will take him all week to pass out coupons and business cards… plus tomorrow he has to work on a business card project for a client from home on our computer…

IMG_0053

Son2 and son3 have lounged all day… and did one chore each since I have been home… son3 is now in the shower after much protest… I can’t remember when he took a shower last and going in the pool with chlorine doesn’t count…

Son1 was home and then out again to run errands… he’ll be off camping with girlfriend’s family this weekend…

IMG_0056

I am making chicken and pasta with marinara sauce for dinner…. and garlic bread… with more episodes of How I Met Your Mother, Dinosaurs and Angel…

IMG_0057

On this day, God wants you to know

... that sleep and rest are all part of the divine order. Don't make your waking life and responsibilities so important that you neglect the very real benefits of sleep, rest, and dreaming. The night is your time of restoration. It is essential. God made both day and night for a reason.

IMG_0035

I’m so tired… I can’t keep staying up til midnight every night… just cause the boys are on vacation and they stay up every night, they can sleep in the next morning… I have to get up at 4am tomorrow, to get to work and pick everyone up to go to Merced to help them with inventory…

IMG_0036

It was a fast but long weekend… I did get some things done at work and we were a bit busier today than yesterday… I was manager on duty a bit of each day which makes for a lot of running around…

IMG_0039

Son1 was off at girlfriend’s yesterday and again today, swimming and bbqing and just relaxing…

Son2 spent the night with his friends last night, just hanging out and playing video games…

Son3 has been swimming in his pool and playing video games…

IMG_0041

We’ve been watching season 3 of How I Met Your Mother, season 2 of Dinosaurs, and season 4 of Angel…

IMG_0042

My house is still a mess… laundry needs to be put away… kitchen needs cleaning, counters and floor too… bathrooms need cleaning… paper piles piling up again…

IMG_0043

Son2 got 3 Red-Clawed Crabs from PetSmart yesterday… He had set the tank up a couple of weeks ago and was just waiting for hubby to take him… I thought getting two kittens was the answer to him having a pet… But now we have crabs too… They hide so I haven’t been able to get any pictures of them…

IMG_0044

The kittens are getting rambunctious, must be bed time… They sleep all day long except for first thing in the morning and at night when we are heading to bed…

IMG_0045

I’m nervous about driving tomorrow… why did I volunteer… oh yea I have the biggest car for everyone to fit… I wrote down the directions to get there, it’s pretty easy and the others have been there before… just would have been easier to just be a passenger..

IMG_0046

The boys are bickering… only five weeks of summer vacation left… 10 year old brothers are very annoying to seventeen year old brothers…

Time to get everyone settled to their rooms… Me too…

On this day, God wants you to know

... that you are unique and precious. When you try to value yourself for being the best in something, you are bound to fail. Even Olympic champions are the best only for a few years. You are precious to God not because there is no one better than you, but because you are a unique creation of mind, body and spirit, - there is no one like you, - and that is exactly what makes you so indescribably precious.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that you are exactly where you are meant to be. Trust in God that everything is exactly the way it is supposed to be. Just as a child has to pass through a tiny channel on its way from the womb into life, so are you on your way to God.

IMG_0023

Friday… Home from work… Hubby made dinner… I have had a wine cooler and some Arbor Mist… We are watching lots of episodes of How I Met Your Mother… Girlfriend and son1 are here too…

IMG_0027

I have decided that why I don’t like Thursday is because it is my Monday cause today I was just fine… can’t handle my mood swings…

IMG_0028

Actually I was contemplating calling out today… I only have one attendance point for the year, we get twelve… but of course I went… spent most of the morning talking with associates on my team… work stuff and personal stuff in between… so I didn’t get much work done before lunch… after lunch I made the schedule and finally for the last hour of the day I finally got motivated and opened boxes for an hour… and made a list of what I am going to get done this weekend at work…

IMG_0031

We are still watching How I Met Your Mother… I’m watching more than typing…

IMG_0033

And sharing some more pictures from our trip to Monterey last month…

IMG_0034

On this day, God wants you to know

... that shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half a sorrow. There is no need for you to go it alone. There are people who love you, and who are ready to give you much needed support. There are even more, - way more than you can possibly imagine, people who CAN love you if you give them a chance. Make 'share joy, half the sorrow' your motto for today.

July Seventh…

IMG_0001

Thursday already… of course it’s Monday for me, as I work the next six days in a row… I close tonight… I don’t have to close this weekend though, so that’s good… On Monday I have to go to Merced to help them with inventory… So I volunteered to drive the van as there are five of us going… We have to be there at 7am and it’s about a 90 minute drive, give or take…

Sharing some of our pictures from when we went to Monterey last month…

IMG_0002

The boys have been on summer vacation for four weeks with five weeks to go… They have done Nothing but lay around and play video games or watch TV… Son2 did read Eragon and has started Eldest… Son3 read a chapter of a Star Wars book and that was it… He hasn’t realized yet that reading can be fun and isn’t just homework… Son2 was in Middle School when he discovered reading was fun…

I just finished reading Nora Roberts In the Garden trilogy… So Very Good and it even has a ghost in it…

IMG_0016

Hubby and I are still not liking his new job… He did bring in one $400 job and got $23 commission for it… And now that the owner is back who hired him, he got his mileage check… He has only been there six weeks, feels longer… Will see what kind of feedback he gets now that the owner is back… I still don’t like that they don’t give him any resources or have any equipment to do the job, since it is a trial position to see if they can bring in the work before they buy the necessary items to do the jobs… Big Catch 22 going on here… and that he is part time, just over minimum wage and he is having to do the work from home and carry son2’s cell phone… Hubby is not a cell phone kind of person and I am not going to get him one just for him to use for work…

IMG_0017

I am still liking my job partly because the things that do annoy me, I knew they were going to before I applied for the job… I just wish I could feel accomplished when I leave work each day… but it is a never ending battle to get anything done… Always a mess to clean from customers and always boxes coming in of new shoes… plus every day reports and processes to do… and never enough time in the day… Tonight I have to put the hours in the schedule but won’t have time to actually make it until tomorrow as I am the manager on duty til 6pm… then dinner… then have an hour to do something… and then time to start store closing procedures and go home…

And maybe I would feel more accomplished at work if I felt more accomplished at home… My house is a mess… partly from the kittens as they are in toddler stage and getting into everything, so I have boxes and paper and whatever will entertain them all over my family room so they will stay out of my stuff.. And Maple is such an ankle biter… she is under my chair now, attacking my feet… and they both chew on wires, they chewed up my printer wires… so we have wires and blind cords all rolled up as high as they will go… but yes, they are so cute…

So my bathrooms need cleaning and my kitchen is never clean as it is the main walkway through the house to get from each room… I have kept up on the laundry but not put away… Hubby hasn’t been back to any of his projects in the yard since he’s started working and that it is in the 100’s now… another aspect he doesn’t like of his job, as he has to be outside walking/driving from business to business, sweating in his long sleeve dress shirt and tie…

So hubby and I are in a rut with our jobs, when we were so looking forward to change and new possibilities… And it’s nice that we don’t have to worry about school and homework with the boys at the moment but since our parenting is lacking with all that is going on, they boys are not helping out around the house at all… I’ve made them lists that they ignore or when we ask we have to ask several times before they even start to budge, including son3 who is going to be 10 and asserting his independence at the moment… Restrictions need to be applied to get them to act but I’m tired… and hubby will apply them on his day off but then not act again til he has another day off… because even when he is only working 4 hours a day, it is all about work with him…

I co-host a Motivation Blog and I can’t even find my motivation at the moment…

IMG_0021

Son1 is also busy as ever… I had to get up at 5:15 this morning to take him to work, his Jeep is in the shop to have some gears put in for the 4 wheel drive since he replaced the rear differential… So I had a nice drive in the Nissan Sentra rental car we have, I’ll tell that story in a moment… Son1 still has plans on joining the military… he has found a friend of a friend that is a teacher and has been tutoring him… even texts him questions every so often just to keep him on track that he has to answer back… he and girlfriend have also been looking at wedding/engagement ring sets as part of their plan was to get engaged if they stayed together for two years, plus him joining the military is a factor in that decision too… she will start cosmetology school in the fall…

IMG_0022

So back to the rental car… when I was coming home from work on Friday in the Saturn, I was involved in a four car accident… the car in front of me had just stopped at the light and I stopped behind her as it is a bit of an incline at that intersection so I remember thinking ok don’t roll back… I then heard a Big Bam but as I looked in my rear view mirror I wasn’t able to see anything because my seat broke and I was now laying down, thinking I need to stop the car as it wouldn’t stop rolling back and forth hitting the car in front of me… I realized later that I did have my feet on the brake and clutch all the time as the car was still running so it didn’t stall out… the lady behind me had been pushed into me because the van behind her did not see us stopped and slammed right into her… a young man who had borrowed his parents car without permission to give his younger sister a ride… we called the police who called tow trucks and asked if anyone needed an ambulance… when the ladies’ family behind me arrived they took her to the doctor’s as she was a bit shaken and banged up…we all exchanged information, the young man who caused it was very polite and stepped right up to take responsibility although he has a big lesson to learn now, and the girl just a bit older than son1 who I hit took control as she was a manager in retail on her way to pick up supplies so she was actually on the clock, she got a bit teary eyed after the first initial shock but with my support we were all able to remain calm and take care of each other… I was able to use her cell phone and call hubby…

The car was towed to storage for the weekend… the accident happened at 4:45pm and I was home before 6pm and on the phone with AAA by 7pm… we picked up the rental car on Tuesday, the Saturn was sent to the repair shop, who called yesterday to let us know that it would cost $4111.02 and that they would begin working on it… the front/rear bumpers, hood and driver seat were damaged that I know of… I was fine at the time of the accident until the adrenaline wore off and then the muscles in my back and neck were a bit sore, but I could still move around just fine… I even did my work as normal at work of opening boxes and no aches or pains showed up… No problem sleeping either… I researched whip lash online and it said it could take up to six weeks for all the muscles to recover and to take ibuprofen… I can already move my neck all the way around now… just still have a burning sensation in the middle of my back and back of my neck like a sunburn would feel… it goes away when I take ibuprofen though… still feeling better every day though and glad that nauseous feeling went away…

I’m back… Had a bit of a chat with son2 and son3 about chores and responsibility and how they affect others in the house when they don’t do them… and that computers and TVs will be taken away if things don’t change… which means the boys are up now… son3 already had breakfast, now son2 is looking for breakfast and we are out of milk this morning… and almost time to start getting ready for work and everyone will be wanting lunch…

On this day, God wants you to know

... that your soul is always in communion with God. When you feel lost, or afraid, or sad, - feel into your soul to find the strength of Divine presence.

Maple and Indy are always sleeping like this…

On this day, God wants you to know

... that everything that irritates you about others, is your key to understanding yourself. What angers you in another person is an unhealed aspect of yourself. If you had already resolved that particular issue, you would not be irritated by its reflection back to you.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that life is not meant to be a speedway. Slow down to savor the gifts that God has already showered you with.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that it is okay to play! When you work too much without interspersing some play into your day, you lose your vitality. Play keeps your heart light and your spirit lively.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that it is more than okay to live your joy. Whatever makes your heart sing is what God wants for you! Of course it's okay to be happy! Of course it's okay to fulfill your heart's deepest desires! What your soul most dearly and deeply desires is the very thing God wants for you.
