A Scary Day

Today is a day of endings and beginnings... Today is officially the last day of AOL Journals... Mine was one of the ones that would not migrate over... and while I'm OK with it, It's still tugging at my heart... I was going to delete it myself yesterday but just couldn't, lol... So will be glad when it's done already.... I did copy my first entry:

Saturday, January 1, 20058:31:00 PM PST Feeling Hopeful Hearing son 2 coaching me on starting journal. Delete Entry
Happy New YearWelcome to 2005. I have been reading journals and enjoying them so much that for the start of the new year I have started my own. As one of my new year resolutions is to take one day at a time and not worry about tomorrow, but enjoy all that is today. Don't know if I will have any words of wisdom or give any inspiration as I have gotten from many journals that I have read. But I hope to share my daily joys and trials about my family and friends with others as they have shared by allowing me to read their journals. So to all a Happy New Year and Happy Journaling.Written by

Look zero comments, lol.... But here I am almost four years later with 55,793 hits to my journal and as many great friends... I am already following over 120 blogs and still haven't found everyone yet, lol.... I am missing Trick or Treat through JLand though this year, maybe we will be all settled and comfy cozy in our new blogs in time to Carol through our new blogger homes.....

At home today another ending is son3 no longer has after school daycare... With the change in the school times this year and the cut in hours at work, most of the time he was at daycare I was already home or I only needed daycare for like fifteen minutes... So even though I've thought this through for weeks now and am sure I have missed a snag somewhere, as of today son3 no longer has daycare... So between hubby, me and son2 one of us is able to pick him up.... It does mean I change my day off from Monday to Wednesday... Hubby was reluctant on that change, as Monday is our day off together... But with him getting off at earlier times now, we see him most evenings for dinner, since he doesn't have to close every night any more... And being a bit selfish, I now have Wednesday mornings just for me, Yay!!...
Today is also hubby's last day of vacation and he's taking me out to breakfast, so I best go get ready!! and take son3 to school and then after breakfast, we finish setting up the front yard with all the tombstones and dummies for our cemetery theme for the trick or treaters....

Taking a Break

I am surrounded by dummies, lol... OK stuffed Halloween props... There's Pooh dressed as a Ghoul dressed as Mr. Potato Head... A Dragon... Tigger... A Blue Power Ranger... An Alien dressed as a Hippie Farmer... The Incredible Hulk dressed as Spider Man... Still have more to make but phew it's hot in here... 80 degrees today... And almost time to pick up Son3... Son2 is home already and hubby is off to get gas for the lawn mower... He already put up the spiderwebs and more lights for the front yard... Now he just has to rake the leaves and mow the lawn so Friday we can finish putting everything outside... And then see what happens, lol, we always go trick or treating and are never home for Halloween... Yesterday after sitting on the computer all day and not even making a dent in the blogs I am behind in reading I did get a few things done on the list... The Halloween cards are all done and on their way in the mail, the dishes are caught up, laundry washed but not put away, treat bags are ready for the trick or treaters, took care of a few paper piles, the plants are watered and a chocolate cake was made and half eaten already... We had left overs for dinner again and watched Young Frankenstein, so funny... Then I promptly fell asleep at 9pm while hubby watched a repeat of Fringe... Today hubby is now on vacation with me, he got son3 off to school and we had breakfast and hung out this morning, til we started on the Halloween decorations... On Netflix they have some shows that you are able to watch on your computer instead of waiting for them to come to the house, anyway son2 and I were watching the old Emergency TV show and now I have found Hercules with Kevin Sorbo, Sliders and Quantum Leap... I'm so excited, lol... these were great shows... now if they would put Buffy and Angel to watch now, I'd be all set... Hubby and I were watching season one of Hercules while we were stuffing the dummies... Time to get son3, then I'm making chicken quesadillas for dinner and homework with son3... Amelia, Journey to the Center of the Earth with Brendan Frasier and Ghidora came from Netflix today...

A Quiet Day Just For Me

The boys are off to school, hubby is off to work and I have a whole day just for me.... It's so nice and quiet... Raisin's here but he's taking a nap... He was flying around the house today, playing, he even pulled toys out of the cat house that he never plays with... He is so happy to have his favorite cat food once again, lol... Yesterday hubby and I went to Walmart... Son2 is finally too big for the boys department and needed jeans from the men's sizes, also picked him up a sweat top for the chilly mornings, he has been squeezing into a boy's size of that also... Plus I needed some St. John's Wort, cat food, found a couple of Christmas presents for the boys, just looked at the Christmas decorations and just looked at the TVs but all three boys will be getting new TVs this Christmas for the new digital change over... We also had son3's teacher conference yesterday... She says he has made great progress in both behavior and academic... He excels in Math, however we have lots of work to do on the reading... She said most of her class this year is behind on the reading and has trouble focusing and getting motivated through the day... She made reference that she blames having new first grade teachers last year and teachers who didn't want to teach first grade(that would be son3's teacher) and so that the kids are struggling more in second grade due to they didn't learn everything they should have in first grade... For example knowing all their sight words before entering second grade, the class just finally knows all the words as of a couple of weeks ago.... So she is picking her priorities of what she needs them to know to get to third grade... I just need to spend a bit more time on homework, lol, we get the basic done so much quicker this year, so I should use the extra time to do a bit more reading and studying with him instead of releasing him to play... Speaking of homework it's a good thing we had teacher conference as he forgot some homework in his desk... Then last night I made out half the Halloween cards and got them in the mail this morning and we had left overs for dinner and watched Haunted Honeymoon with Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner... Plus hubby and I finally watched CSI with all the people art, very freaky.... Today I have a list a mile long of all the things I want to do... I'm sure I won't get most of them done, but then I still have all week while hubby is home getting his list done, lol... I want to finish the Halloween cards, dishes, laundry, clean the bathrooms desperately, balance the checkbook, finish the trick or treat bags, some paper piles put away, water the plants, Raisin needs a new flea collar on, and make a cake... Tomorrow I need to start assembling all the dummies for the front yard for the cemetery/yard decorations... Oh and today I have to get back on my exercising; 225 crunches and weight lifting... And find the Christmas cards I bought last year so I can start those next... Christmas is only about eight weeks away ya know... And in between all my list I am going to be catching up on all my blog reading!!!
A side note: if you live in Florida and your name starts with an R, a package is being mailed for you today, I sent it off special delivery with hubby this morning.... :)

Vacation

Woo Hoo I am now on vacation for a week.... Hubby is still waiting to hear what days he has off... I worked til 10:45 this morning setting up the ad... Came home and we were off to Kinkos to pick up our Halloween cards that hubby had printed out... And then on to the pumpkin patch again... Son3 picked out a little pumpkin, we walked around a bit and then headed back home... Son2 just finished reading The Hobbit for English class, son3 is playing video games, hubby is on his computer and I am making lasagna, teriyaki chicken and we are munching on chips and bean dip while we are waiting...
Here are all the goodies for the trick or treat bags... Candy, Halloween spinning top, Halloween sticker and Thanksgiving foam leaves...
I just need to tape all the bags closed and they are ready... Last night I watched Ghost Whisperer, it was very good... then when hubby came home we got caught up watching some vampire movie on TV that we had seen before and Criminal Minds and back to the vampire movie and then hubby wanted to see Ghost Whisperer so we watched it again... At 11:30pm we were still awake and watching Bananas Comedy show on the Christian channel, so funny! by 12:30am I was finally going to sleep as I had to be up at 4:30am this morning, what was I thinking... So tonight I'm sending everyone to bed early... and hubby and I can catch up on some more shows... Hubby's work just called and he only has to work Tuesday and Saturday and has the rest of the week off... I need to make him a list, lol....

~Saturday~

Raisin is circling my chair... He's mad cause he doesn't like his cat food and it was the last can and he doesn't want the dry either... He says where is that left over chicken I got to have yesterday, well, you ate it all.... lol.... I slept in all the way til 8am today, yay, tomorrow I will be up at 4:30am... Hubby and son3 slept til 10am... and son2 got home from his sleepover at noon... He had a great time! He said he did get scared about three times, the characters dressed up were great and the best part was his friend was afraid of everything, so son2 and friend's parents had more fun scaring friend and listening to him scream, lol... They went out to dinner too and of course stayed up til 2 or 3am playing video games... Son3 was home all day playing video games, while I was off and on the computer... I didn't get any housework done today but straightened up the front room and did the dishes... We watched Gremlins the other day and so we watched Gremlins 2 today while we packed up all the goodie bags for the trick or treaters... I just remembered I was going to make teriyaki chicken for tomorrow... Supervisor never called today so hope that means I am still off at 10am tomorrow so we can go back to the pumpkin patch... And I was gonna watch Ghost Whisperer today too, maybe I'll go do that now while waiting for hubby to get home from work.... and get the boys in the showers and settled for the night so when hubby gets home we can watch our shows from the week... I think we still have CSI, CSI NY, Criminal Minds and Numbers... Supernatural and Smallville were so good this week... Supernatural will be a Halloween one next week and maybe Clark will get his cape this season... OK I found Raisin a little piece of chicken in the bag of frozen chicken so cooked that up for him and I think it's done... off to feed the spoiled cat....
Happy Journaling...

Joker

Son2's new Joker mask.... It is so freaky!! LOL..... It was the only thing we had to buy for his costume and a bit of face makeup.... He's using his own dress shoes and dress shirt and hubby's dress pants, vest, tie and suit jacket... We were going to try and dye an old suit jacket from goodwill purple, so I had son2 try on hubby's suit jackets for sizing and then hubby tried on his suit jackets and realized they are all a bit small, lol... So son2 is borrowing a black one and not worrying about it being purple... still looking for purple gloves but may not worry about the gloves... and to think at the beginning son2 wanted to spend $50-$200 on a Joker costume from the Halloween store... but now he agrees with us that a costume is actually better with things you put together yourself.... Now what do I do with this box of purple dye......

Goodbye~Hello

What a week! Well I have finally come to terms with the AOL journal and I am letting it go... I don't know how many times this past week and all the countless hours I have wasted, and even Robin tried helping to migrate the old journal over and it just ain't gonna happen... I have deleted all my photos from AOL Pictures, but I think since I copied and pasted so many pictures into the journal that blogger just can't understand or handle the volume and it just freezes up at the end and won't migrate over... Of course all the pictures keep going into Picasa Album and I had at one time 153 folders of 500 pictures each (90%) in the Picasa Album... I can't believe I haven't gone over my limit, I'm wondering if they are giving us migraters a grace period to house our pictures temporarily while we migrate over... So now I have to finish deleting all those folders, that's gonna take some more time so that I'm back down to my original 16% of what I have put in the new blogs so far... But I'm ok with it, it was becoming more of just that I was gonna do it then actually wanting the journal... lol... So now I missed out on a whole week of blogging with everyone and now I'm so far behind on what everyone has been up to.... But I'm now on vacation, except Sunday morning of just going in to set up the ad, so I've got a whole week of blogging catch up time... and I didn't want to waste it agonizing over the AOL journal...
Plus this week I worked six days cause we had a visit on Wednesday that was then canceled Tuesday night but another visit is still coming when I get back from vacation.... So we are looking presentable once again and our mountain of boxes that we were behind on is now about caught up, I had a bit of help though... now just hope we don't get behind while I am on vacation... and all the mismate shoes are gone and displays are done and the floor is finally looking full again...
Son3 had a good week and is now happily playing PlayStation...
Son2 is off to spend the night at a friends and go to a Haunted Forest... they also have a haunted house and haunted hay ride but they are just going in the forest... so he was too excited and just left a few minutes ago...
We are still battling ants... of course it is high 80's and heading for the 90's again so everything thinks we are having second spring here, even the iris' are blooming again... crazy iris, lol...
My house is a disaster, although actually I got a few things done while waiting all the hours for the journal to migrate... a bit of filing, some little projects and such... the Halloween cards are almost ready to mail, just waiting for hubby to print them out at work...
We had lost the Transformer DVD in son3's room so even his room got a bit of cleaning, I'm hoping to continue while on vacation, and I even hung up his new SpongeBob curtains... The DVD was found in his underwear drawer, lol... Had fallen off the DVD player into the drawer...
I have not even been outside or taken any pictures except when we went to the pumpkin patch... I went to work on Sunday thinking I was off at 10am cause we had no hours, but when I got there discovered we had a ton of hours to get ready for the visit and I was working til 2pm... We had planned on going to the pumpkin patch plus I hadn't brought my lunch or anything thinking I was off early... So hubby had everyone ready when I got home including me some lunch and we went for about an hour... We're hoping to go again this Sunday cause we didn't get any pumpkins yet...
Hubby is still waiting to hear if he got the week off for vacation... He does get Halloween off... so we can finish getting everything ready for our yard decorating for the trick or treaters... Son2 is planning on going trick or treating with his friends, but I have talked son3 into just going on our street and then helping me hand out candy... He had more fun last year handing out candy when we got back from trick or treating then actually trick or treating... He gets tired and says he's done, lol... me and hubby say one more house, one more house........ Tomorrow I want to fix all the bags of goodies for the trick or treaters... and son2 needs to finish putting together the foam castle decoration we got... Halloween's as big as Christmas here, lol...
And with all the drama of the week I haven't even been doing my crunches or weight lifting, but I have been drinking more water and I have my yogurt everyday at lunch... I have been having ice cream every night though as hubby found these toffee ice cream bars that are soooooo good.... but the scale is still being kind...
Speaking of which what are me and son3 gonna munch on for dinner...

Cooking

Now that hubby's home more nights for dinner, I've had to actually cook, lol... So since I was taking pictures for Martha's food challenge I took pictures of a few other dishes...

This was an experiment that failed, lol... I thought I would add pasta to the pork roast instead of potatoes, however I did it in the crock pot... I had never cooked pasta in the crock pot... It was a big mushy mess... Son2 and I tried it, very slimy with no taste... hubby wouldn't even try it... The roast came out good! I had also added some seasonings and brown gravy to the pot....
So in a pot on the stove I made another roast with potatoes and carrots as a back up, lol... with a mestique seasoning.... much better!! A dish that always comes out perfect is pasta with meatballs and texas toast... mmmmmmm..... Just Wednesday night I fried up some pork cube steak with a purple onion, oh it was so good with some BBQ sauce... And some honey cornbread... And then this morning I made son3 a waffle with a smiley face...

Fantastic Food Challenge #2

Fall is here, it's the time of year we start looking forward to nice hot comfort food meals. The theme this time around is "Soup, Stew or Chili."

Whenever we are in need of snacking, partying, or just an additive to dinner... I pull out three cans of chili and a package of cream cheese, simmer them together in a sauce pan, and make bean dip...

*Saturday*

Ahhhhh it's Saturday... and I have a chore list a mile long, lol.... and yet here I sit... I have been deleting pictures from AOL photos and photobucket, cleaning everything up for a new start... no need to save them for the journal that will soon be gone since I have them all saved on CD's... I have such mixed feelings though... It's sad deleting everything but I knew I did not want to migrate, besides there is no way all the pictures on my journal would have migrated and my entries won't make sense without all the pictures to refer too.... The main entries I will miss are all the photo scavenger hunt entries, lol... but then if it wouldn't have been for all the themes and entries to be written I would not have all the photos and memories to look back on in my photo cd's.... and with all the entries that were written and the loading and reloading of pictures into the journal the all the better to remember what each photo was, lol.... So I'm looking forward to the clean slate of all the new photo challenges and entries that are created not just cause life happens but cause if we 'did this' it would make a good journal entry, lol...

And yesterday the whole four hours wasn't spent just working with making slide shows but I was shopping.... I was over at Current Catalog, shopping for goodies for the trick or treaters and then to DoubleDay for new books for Christmas... Tomorrow we are going to start building the grave decorations for the front yard for Halloween and start putting out a few decorations... It has been way windy the last few days, which I was thinking it usually is this time of year cause just when everyone starts decorating for Halloween the wind comes and blows it all down.... Our temps have been so nice in the 70's but we will be back to 85 by Wednesday.... It was nice weather for the fair, I even wore long sleeves thinking fall thoughts... We got there about noon and started working our way to the food stopping at exhibits as we went... The Jr exhibit, SPCA, the Gem exhibit, then lunch, the advertising/business exhibits, agricultural exhibit, horticultural exhibit, waterfall, pirate ship and fort and then on to the animals... By 5pm I was pooped, so we headed home and had banana splits for dinner since we were still full from lunch, lol...

Did you notice the fried foods... would you or have you tried... poptarts, oreos, spam, frog legs, avocados, veggies, zucchini, twinkies.... I always have the zucchini and I would definitely try the veggies and probably the spam and even the frog legs before I would try the poptarts or oreos.... can we say heart attack.........

Ok I'm getting the hang of putting in the pictures and dragging them, just have to do them one at a time as you write each paragraph... of course we all know that I am far from a one picture at a time kind of person, lol.... So lets see what have we been up to this week... I have barely been working with the supervisor but one day a week as we have no hours but it has been better cause I get so much more done as we are not talking... some management changes coming up again in the next month or so, not the supervisor but her boss... Still haven't heard from son1, don't know what's up... Son2 has been showing his teen horns lately... so grumpy and no patience for son3... Son2 has been wanting to go to the football games, paintball, friends house... I'm all for him going out, gives us a break from the grumpiness, lol, but he doesn't get all the information until it is too late to go... So we're working on his communication skills.... Son3 has been getting in trouble again... twice this past week, once in class and then in after school care... it's not so much the getting in trouble, just boy stuff of goofing around but the shutting down and refusing to come or go to punishment when the teacher tells him... puts fingers in his ears or turns his back on teacher... and we are learning it's not just the zero tolerance that the teachers are dealing with but the fact that their hands are tied when it comes to discipline too... can't be politically correct on discipline and expect zero tolerance... so hubby and I are still figuring all this new school politics out... so different from when son2 and son1 went to school... of course the school or teachers don't come straight out and say their hands are tied, just what we are seeing... I did however make a mistake when talking to the daycare teacher when I said son3 does not act like this at home and why he is pushing the teachers on defiance... cause hubby pointed out that son2 acts that way with us so that is where son3 is getting it... cause no matter what we ask son2 to do, he takes his time about it or just forgets.... so even though son3 is grounded again from video games, both boys are in trouble for rudeness and inappropriate behavior to adults....

Wow this is the most relaxed I have felt all week, lol... Actual time to just write.... I just wish I had more time than just once a week... As soon as I get caught up with all the new blogs to read then I might just feel organized... Of course all the new fall shows to watch, take up time... So far we are watching: Terminator TSCC, Fringe, Bones, Criminal Minds, CSI NY, Smallville, Supernatural, CSI, Ghost Whisperer and Numbers.... And then whatever comes from Netflix... We have the original Lost Boys to watch now and Don't Mess with the Zohan comes today and a Goosebumps for the boys... Plus homework, although son3 is doing good with homework and son2 never has homework although he is reading The Hobbit for a book report and he just finished a report on Edgar Allen Poe that he got a 48/50... His goal, not ours, this year is to get a 4.0... His progress report just came and it was 3.57; 5 A's and 4 B's... I haven't had any time for yard work or taking pictures... The pictures in Not Just Roses are from last month that I am just now putting in.... I need to do some serious house cleaning like dusting and bathrooms.... Son3 wants to make cakes, brownies and a cake today... He and son2 are watching the original Terminator movies today... Plus I want to cook some dinners for the week... So I best get busy with some chores, dishes, laundry and catching up all the reading of everyone's new blogs all before hubby gets home from work... I just work in the morning tomorrow to set the ad and then home to decorate for Halloween....

Learning...

Yay it is Friday... No homework for the boys and I am off tomorrow... Was a fast busy week... Work was good... Son3 was not... I have spent the last four hours on the computer learning that I don't know how to arrange pictures in this blog... I know you click and drag them but they don't go where I want them to... So I thought I would make a slideshow in Photobucket, nope the pictures were loading but not showing up until I put them in the slide show so they were out of order cause I couldn't see them... Then I remembered Smilebox, ahhhhhh... Very easy... and it doesn't use up our photo space in blogger for photos.... But now it is 8pm and time for Ghost Whisperer and I still haven't read any blogs all week... Lots of time to play tomorrow in between doing chores....

Dining Delights!

Welcome to the new fun food photo challenge, Dining Delights!
To Play Visit Martha at Perception...
I have no fancy title for this dish...
