Too soon for snowmen… Nah…

It was chilly this morning, hubby had to turn on the heater…

I am making Pumpkin Pie Bars…

I don’t think we have tried these before, so we will see…

Son2 and I have a day off today…

Son3 is at school… He had a math and science test today…

Hubby is at work.. And he will be home soon… I am running out of day…

I have been straightening up the house, laundry, vacuuming, emailing, going through a paper pile and putting on the flannel sheets…

When the pumpkin pie bars are done I will put some chicken, rice, carrots, onions in the oven and see what comes out…

Hubby and son2 finally finished cutting away all the lemon tree that had fallen into the neighbors yard…

Now I can get back to my plan of cutting back all the rose bushes and raking up all the leaves… I want to get the yard all ready for the winter so in the spring we can enjoy it and not have to clean up from the winter/fall…

Work Drama…

First hubby’s work drama… Office Max and Office Depot have now officially merged together… So of course they will be closing some stores to clean house… Of course hubby is worried what if his store closes… I’m not worried… Sears closes stores all the time… Hubby has brought sales up since he has been there… God has a plan or he wouldn’t have led hubby to work there…

My work drama… We have worked very hard all this week to get ready for the Christmas visit… I don’t know how it went as I left right after they arrived… But that’s not the drama… I still don’t know exactly what happened but when I got to work yesterday there was a message for me to work in shoes… I had found out the day before that they were having not only the Christmas visit in the afternoon but their own shoe audit from the little orange man in the morning… So at first I protested as I still had to set the ad and get ready for my own little part of the visit… So first I walked through shoes to see what was left to do, spent about an hour in kids and then went back to shoes… Which is when I found out why I was needed in shoes, including the lead before me… The lead who had replaced us this year had not come in on Wednesday or Thursday and she was having two visits… We were all perplexed… Was she ok… Was she upset about all the visits as her last visit she did not do very well… She had also recently asked to step down… I don’t know the details but I do know that she has since contacted management and she no longer works there…

Which leads to who will be the new lead again… Meaning the store manager was joking but serious if I wanted to go back… We never talked about it as we still had all the visits to get ready for and then I am off today and tomorrow… I did have a missed call from this morning but I am not ready to answer yet although probably it was just a work related question to annoy me as it is my day off… I haven’t really seen hubby since Tuesday so I haven’t had a chance to talk things out with him, although he will support me in whatever I decide…

I really liked being back and having a team to give direction to… I haven’t had anyone to boss around all year… lol… In hardware we didn’t have hours to give the team and in kids, I am the day person and then the night person comes in… I don’t think I will mind going back to 8-5 instead of 6-2 as I have been so tired and I can’t stay awake past 9pm… Last night I fell asleep at 7:30pm and woke up automatically at 4:20am… I won’t see hubby any more or less now that he is working too… I won’t see son3 any less as I’ll get home right after him and he doesn’t start homework til then anyway… I’ll have to go back to Friday night, but hubby works in the day on Friday so he’ll be home with the boys… And I’ll lose my Saturday off and my early Sunday… So no Zoo lights this year…

I just can’t decide… I like working in kids and just stocking… But then I can’t not hear all the manager pages… Even when I was just an associate in  shoes all those years I still knew everything that was going on… I don’t know if maybe I’ll be offered a penny or two raise to go back… I still have the money I got from going to hardware, so a little bit more on that would make being back in shoes all worth while… Even with hubby back to work he’s not making the full time supervisor money he was making… I don’t know… I want to but then what am I forgetting about why I wanted out of shoes… I think I felt I was stuck and being ignored… But since going out and being in other departments, every one is just doing the same thing day after day…

I know I have gained weight since being out of shoes… lol… It was my gym… And being the manager on duty I was all over the store… Being in kids I’m still getting more exercise then when I was in hardware but I think the early hours I am getting home is allowing me more time to sit at the computer and eat… Hubby has lost weight since being back at work… Especially from around his waist from when he had his cancer surgery…

I know the one thing I don’t like about being a lead is how everything is a priority… But I didn’t really have that in shoes… I always felt like shoes was always forgotten… But maybe now that is a good thing… I was really stressed in hardware/electronics…

I do remember the mutiny from the associates when I left but they have yet to get along with the new supervisor or get what they wanted from the mutiny this past year… So maybe they have suffered long enough to appreciate me this time and not take advantage of me again…

Well if you think of anything that I may have mentioned in the past about shoes or think that maybe I shouldn’t have left in the first place… Let me know… Meanwhile I’m listening for what God has to say… and waiting til Sunday when I go back to work for all the drama to die down and see who else applied for the position…

Son3 is home and I just remembered they have a three day weekend for Veteran’s Day…

The chicken is in the oven… Hubby should be on his way home… Maybe we can stay awake long enough to watch a couple of our shows tonight…

Meanwhile I have laundry to put away…

Oh that would be a dilemma Linda about going back to shoes or not. I think you did great here in your post of listing pros and cons. Do it side by side on a piece of paper and then of course you are doing the best thing with praying about it all. But that schedule can be a killer of getting up so early especially since you still have kids at home who are on a more traditional schedule of 8 to 5 so to speak. I didn't realize Office Max and Depot were merging together. It is good to hear that sales are up at your hubby's store. You have a great attitude about trusting God with his work situation.

Sounds like you are on the right path towards making a decision best for you by praying over it.

I hope you will feel peace until you make a final decision.

Praying for your husband that he will be blessed with a permanent position.

What a strange twist of things in your job situation. I guess for me it would depend on the pay. You always did a great job of shoes as I remember. I didn't realized the two office stores had merged either. I'll be praying all goes well and your hubbys store is one that remains open. I do believe things happen for a reason too. Those pumpkin bars do look delicious. Hope you enjoy the weekend . It's nice you have 2 days to make your decision.
