August Thirteenth…

free-back-to-school-vector

Yesterday was my first day back to getting off at five from work, now that the boys are back in school… so my evenings are shorter and I ran out of blogging time… So yesterday was a long day at work, although it went along… I spent all day locating shoes into the stockroom… until the last two hours when the supervisor and I did too much talking since we hadn’t seen each other all week… Today I finished locating the shoes into the stockroom and opened the rest of the boxes… Now just waiting for receiving to bring up the big pile waiting in the warehouse… Lots of people back to school shopping… when I got to work yesterday, you needed a snow plow to get through the kids shoe department… shoes all over the floor in every aisle… so I helped clean up kids for a bit in the morning…

The boys had a good second and third day at school… so technically one week in already… son2 tried to change his classes again today, his teachers said ok, but the office said no… he wanted out of anatomy and drawing… son3 wanted to join band but I did not like that he would get pulled out of class randomly throughout the week to go to band and miss class time, plus I do not think he realizes the commitment it takes to learn an instrument… he wants to play the trombone… so we have compromised and told him we would learn some things at home… so son2 is going to show him drums from when he was in drum line in junior high and give him his electronic drum pad… and I am looking into getting an electric keyboard… I use to play piano a bit and I have been telling son2 we should get one, plus it might be cheaper than son3 taking band… He’s only in the fourth grade…

Son1 is wanting to go to driving school to get his class A license to drive big trucks… It’s $1200 for the driving school… Told him if he saved up for a couple of months, he could go, and then it would not be a struggle trying to pay as he went… Plus he mentioned something about wanting to go to City College… he does know they have books there and you have to read them, right… I’m glad he’s interested, just don’t know if he has the patience to go to college full time…

He’s been waiting for girlfriend all evening… to go to dinner… she was getting her hair done… it’s 9pm and she is finally on her way… son1 said he is not even hungry… he had pizza with us earlier…

I am still perplexed that I am losing weight… my goal for August was to lose 6lbs… bringing my total to 20lbs since the middle of May… I’ve already lost 4-6lbs this month… I say 4-6 cause weight fluxuates so much every day… So I’m giving myself the month to lock in the 6lb lost for good… Have to wrap my mind around the discipline to keep my body at the new weight and let my body adjust and settle at the new weight… So this whole weight loss thing is more a battle of the mind than with the body… I’m still eating but I am aware of how much… I’ve eaten a bit more this week… but even mixing up the days keeps your metabolism on its toes…

Yesterday… Breakfast: two waffles with peanut butter and apricot jelly; chocolate milk… Lunch: chimichanga, yogurt, cola… Dinner: chicken leg, rice, tortilla chips and chili, water… mini almond joy…

Today: Breakfast: yogurt with frosted flakes sprinkled in… Lunch: chimichanga, yogurt, cola… tortilla chips… Dinner: pizza, salad, cactus cooler… thinking of having a popsicle…

To me that looks like a lot of food… and it is no different to what I used to eat… it’s the portions that are way smaller… I used to have tortilla chips all day by the handfuls… now I take one at a time and only have a few to appease my need for crunchy and salty… instead of four full size pizza slices… I now cut one slice in two like I do for son3 and it seems like I had four slices but really only two sliced into four… the biggest thing is Stay Out Of The Kitchen! that is where the food is that we don’t need if it’s not meal time or the stomach is not growling… I think too that everyone has to find what works for them… this is life not a diet and you have to learn what your relationship with food is… Everyone keeps asking what I did to lose the weight and I don’t really have an answer… I’m not doing anything cause that would be work and too hard… I’m simply adjusting how much I eat… eventually I’ll have to add in some exercising and change foods here or there… I’m learning as I go as this is a life long mission learning to have a relationship with food where we can get along…

Last night hubby and I watched some Kolchak episodes from Season 1 and tonight we introduced son2 to Lost In Space, the very first episode… he has now gone to bed as he is tired from school… Son3 is latched onto video games… isn’t he tired from school… he needs to go to bed… I need to go to bed… I’m tired… Tomorrow we’ve got to do more school stuff on our day off…

Happy Journaling…

kids change their minds so much regarding school. drives me nuts, but I understand so much pressure to decide when you're young. congrats on the lifestyle change. better to be healthy than crash diet

Good for you and your weight loss! I am trying not to gain 60 lbs this pregnancy, and am so far doing well. My plan this week is to nibble on the veggie tray I created this morning.
