July Twenty Eighth

Son1 and fiancé were up bright and early this morning and off to Monterey for the weekend… I was also up bright and early this morning right after they left… and am now having a quiet morning while hubby and the boys are still sleeping… actually I have been up for two hours now… and just now getting to writing a bit in the blog… I admit, I was on Facebook… and sorting through my picture folders on the laptop… son1 and fiancé plan to visit the aquarium, fisherman’s wharf, several restaurants and spend the night…

We were just at Monterey/Pacific Grove last Sunday… Had a great time with hubby and the boys… we talked and laughed all the way there… had a picnic lunch… it was quite windy, chilly and the tide was in… but we still walked along the shore and climbed on the rocks… saw some sea otters… lots of seagulls and pelicans… on the way home we were pooped from all the walking and sea air, so the boys fell asleep, I finished reading my Debbie Macomber book Summer on Blossom Street and hubby drove of course…

Monday was a work day… Tuesday and Wednesday I was off for son3 and son1’s birthdays… Thursday and Friday back to work… and now here it is Saturday again already… and another weekend off…

Son1’s birthday lasagna… instead of buying another cake I thought I would just put some candles in the lasagna and sing happy birthday to son1… and even though the lasagna had been cooling on the counter, I wasn’t thinking the candles would melt before we even lit them… lol… so after removing all the melted wax from dinner we put the one candle on the pan and sang happy birthday… it was son1’s 25th birthday… for his birthday this year we gave him wedding money… they have chosen DiCicco’s Italian restaurant to cater their wedding so we gave money to help with that part of the wedding… and earlier this year hubby designed and created the art work for their wedding invitation… we also had them printed and included the address labels and stamps…

My boss asked me if I had applied for the position at the other store as they were waiting and hadn’t heard from me… I was like: What???… the last she had told me was that if I was interested let her know and she would show me where to post on the computer and where to take the assessment test as the posting has to be done on the computer as it is a salary position… now since I haven’t asked her yet on how to do that, who is telling the other store that I am applying… besides our store manager has been on vacation and I didn’t want to do anything without informing him first… as I felt I would be going behind his back since he had told the other manager no when he asked if I could apply… and I don’t feel God pulling me in the direction of applying… meaning it hasn’t been nagging at me on whether I should apply or not… hubby and I were thinking of going for a drive this weekend and stopping by the store to get a feel of the place… so I guess the question of applying for the position hasn’t passed yet… hubby did get approved for unemployment again… the third time now, so really time for a job to come along as we are really heading for the end now…

Maple working on her blog entry this morning…

It’s now 9am and time for the boys to get up… I have lots I want to get done this weekend… playing, yard work, house cleaning… only about two weeks til school starts, need to start getting ready for that… son2 needs to finalize his classes this weekend for college… and he really needs to get in some driving time… he has had his permit since April and I don’t think he has driven since then… he’ll be getting rides and taking the bus to college… I keep telling them even though hubby is home now, eventually he will be back to work and then ‘Dad’ won’t be available for everyone to fit their schedules…

I’ve started planning for Halloween… found this cool reaper that someone made as a statue out of chicken wire and drywall paste… so we are thinking how to make son2 look like this and still move around of course… thinking of blankets or sheets… don’t like any of the costumes at the stores as they all look like scream movie robes… and then get an old lantern or I saw one like this one at the Spirit Halloween store… also have been thinking of treats for the trick or treaters by going through the Oriental Trading catalog… lots of glow in the dark bouncy balls, glow in the dark skeletons and lizards, pirate bouncy balls and bracelets… 50 to 150 to a package and less then $10 a package…

Look what son1 found on the way home yesterday… it was sitting in the street in front of someone’s house… we teased him and said did it have a free sign on it, he said no, we said then maybe they put it out for all the neighbor cats to enjoy, lol, and are now looking for their cat tree… all the carpet on the bottom three legs has to come off as the previous cats shredded it mostly off… and then a good vacuuming and spray with Lysol and then Maple will have her own tree, as Indy took over with the other one son1 brought home that a friend game him as they upgraded for their cats… Miss Holly was checking it out saying Thank You, for me since it’s in her garage… she can use it too but she doesn’t like the kittens and doesn’t want to share…

IMG_0001

I just went out to see if Holly was enjoying the cat tree and I found Indy and Maple’s Mum sitting in it… she lives across the street… we have the garage fixed so Holly can come in and out, so of course the neighbor cats all come in to visit and nibble on Holly’s food…

Now it is almost 10am… hubby has been up a half hour or so and has done the dishes… next is make breakfast and decide what we are doing today…

It's good to see you posting again regularly. This week has been a short one for you only working 3 days. Hope your weekend is a great one!

Praying everything works out on the job front...for both you and hubby. Odd isn't it? You have a man able to work that can't find a job, I have a man unable to work that would have opportunities to work all over the place if he suddenly become able. Either way, we are both in the same boat trying to keep our families afloat until answers come. Monterey look beautiful...no wonder George Strait sang about it! And I never pictured you as a woman running a "cat house"...but I adore the graphic. Love, Barbara

I can't believe you are thinking of Halloween already, LOL :) but it will be here before we know it. I think it is wise not to pursue the other position just yet and see how things play out over the next few months; got a lot on your plate with upcoming wedding, son2 starting college, son3 going back to school, maybe staying where you are familiar is a good thing!

Sounded like your time in Monterey was very fun indeed!

Hi Linda,

I always enjoy reading your posts, gotta say you keep so busyyyyy! I see you on FB but this is even nicer because I feel like I get the filled in details, if that makes sense, lol. Anyhow, I've started writing again, too (blog is called I'm On A Mission).

Praying your hubbs finds work, soon and that God will give you peace with your job choice.
