God Wants You to Know

 Thanksgiving

On this day, God wants you to know

... that it's important not to invalidate your feelings. Your feelings are telling you something important. Do not rush to act on the first whim, take time to hear the full message.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that you need to stop comparing yourself to other people. Some people are great singers, some are really smart and others are great athletes. But none of them are, or ever could be you. You are one of a kind. So stop comparing yourself to other people. You can't be them any more than they can be you.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that you are what you think of all day long. Day after day your thoughts shape you like dripping water shapes rock. Pay attention to what you are habitually thinking about, - are your thoughts serving you well?

On this day, God wants you to know

... that you belong. You are part of a community: people of faith. Worship with others, share with others, experience God with others. You are not in this alone; you have an entire family of believers out there. Today is a good day to seek some of them out.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that there are countless ways to love God. Love God through love for your parents. Love God through love for your spouse. Love God through love for your children. Love God through love for your friends. Love God through love for your country. For God is in all these and much, infinitely, more.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that even when you do something wrong, even when you fail, even when you make poor choices, you are loved. God is not a punitive. No doubt you will punish yourself enough for your mistakes. The question is: Will you try to do the right thing next time? Will you learn from your mistakes? Will you keep on loving and caring to the best of your ability?

On this day, God wants you to know

... that well done is always better than well said. Actions are deeper than words, and intentions deeper than actions. Keep on focusing on the deepest level of your being, that's the one that God is listening to.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that it's time to remove everything unessential in your life. Pairing down to essentials frees up energy and brings simplicity that are necessary for happiness.

On this day, God wants you to know

... that you weren't created to be a failure. Sure some things may not have worked out and there have been some disappointments. But all these things helped guide you in a direction that was meant for you. Your life has purpose and significance. Try to be patient if it isn't all crystal clear just yet. For now, just know that you weren't created to fail.

Happy Journaling…
