My fourth day of vacation... Hubby is off to work and I have been on the computer all morning... But I've done some dishes, laundry, fed the boys, fed me, showered and dressed... The boys are on their eleventh day of vacation... They've video/computer games a bit but mostly they have been watching movies... They are watching Meet the Robinsons right now...
We had a good Easter on Sunday... We were up early, had blueberry/chocolate chip muffins for breakfast with chocolate milk... Opened our baskets... Too much candy, lots of movies, new shirts for the boys... Showered and dressed and we were off to the zoo... We got there about 11am... Our zoo is in a park and I wanted to get there as early as possible as everyone and their Easter egg BBQ's would be there... We were lucky and found a parking spot right by the zoo... It wasn't too busy at the zoo but more people than I thought for an Easter day... We were there almost three hours, see slide show in previous entry, and when we left they already had the parking full signs up and only allowing people to walk into the park... Once home we watched Tin Man and ate ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, baked beans and green salad.... Son2 texted son1 to see if he was still coming over after work and he did about 5:30pm... Of course he brought his tax papers, so we got that done and in the mail on Monday... Son1 stayed til about 8:30pm and then he was off as he had to stop at the grocery store... We still didn't get many answers to our questions... He is still working two jobs, spending tons of time with friend A, still has both his dogs, 'working on things with girlfriend', wants to buy friend A's truck and rebuild the engine, friend A is buying a new truck, son1 wants to sell his perfectly running car, use the money to pay off friend who lent him the money to buy the car that he hasn't paid yet... He then called again on Monday to ask how to cook sausage dogs...
After son1 left we got the boys settled, put in A Haunting in Georgia, which was more of a documentary based on a true story then a scary movie, I finished watching it while hubby was sleeping... Then I finally went to sleep at 11:30pm...
Monday we didn't get to Monterey like we wanted as we were pooped from all our Easter adventures... We're pathetic... We were up early, had scrambled eggs for breakfast and proceeded to lecture to son2 for four hours to make up for all the Saturday morning family time we have been missing since hubby goes into work early now... A bit of the time was talking about how son2 changes everything we say to fit the moment and not the rules... To the point that after talking to son2 for a while we forget what we originally were talking about... Then the next three hours were spent talking son2 out of cheerleading... We went rounds and rounds of trying to compromise, show him different views, have him show us what he expected from cheerleading, which he couldn't, he wants to do it cause it looks like fun, when we ask him if he would still do it if friend girl wasn't in it, he says maybe, we latched onto that for a while, but then went rounds and rounds again trying to get him to choose other things he wants to do, like track and leadership class, finally it clicked to him that we were saying no to cheerleading and he snapped and got mad, things got ugly, we said straight out no and he slammed off to his room... Twenty minutes later he was watching a movie with son3 and laughing... I was still mad... well disappointed cause I don't want to say no to him and it seems we say no to a lot but he asks for big things... we want him to compromise and pick a few little things or a couple of medium things... to me cheerleading seems like a huge big thing that lasts for the whole year... where track for example would just be for a few months... hubby told him to continue to prepare for cheerleading and then maybe if he is still serious about it then when he is a junior or senior... son2 wants to just try out and if he doesn't make it then that will be the decision, I'm afraid he will get picked cause he is the only guy... Last night he was texting friend girl and finding out more information and asking me if he could still talk to the person in charge and get more information about criteria for a guy and we said yes but then I'm afraid in his mind we have said yes to cheerleading again... I told hubby, he said no, I said well then you better talk to him and remind him that it's still no.....
Meanwhile son3 is in vacation heaven, barely showering or getting dressed, playing games, watching movies, tells me he loves me, I remind him we need to read books, he says no, lol.... every so often he will go in the backyard to get some air....
Today I am in computer heaven with plans of catching up on blogs... In between laundry, dishes, cleaning the kitchen... Movies I have to watch: Australia, Fireproof, War of the Roses, Passion of the Christ, and shows: Castle, Reaper, Fringe, Bones is on twice this week, CSI and I'm not sure if I like the Harper's Island and a whole bunch of Emergency episodes....
The boys are done with their movie and are now fighting over who gets which computer and game... sheesh.......
Happy Journaling...

I haven't been to our zoo for a couple of years.Sounds like you all had a lot of fun.
I'm glad you got to spend some time with son 1..
Hugs, Sheri
Sounds like you are keeping in busy fun mode. Must be the week to get into it with kids, my fuss with DD#1 last night! Hang in there and don't feel bad about having to say no. At least you're offering him alternatives. When I was growing up, my parents never allowed me to participate in after school activities. No explanation either, it was tough.
Glad that you got some time off. :) Blessings, Janie
