January Fifth

 

Only two more days of shoes…

I do have mixed feelings on leaving but now I’m getting more excited as it’s starting to sink in as being real…

The store manager did announce it yesterday morning even though I wasn’t there… but then again he needs to post for the shoe position as they’ll need someone in there as soon as possible as it can get out of control very quickly even with someone in charge…

Yesterday was crazy busy again… the shoe associates have all been at the registers ringing leaving no one in shoes to assist customers so we are even more torn up… I did manage to get one project done and start another… so hopefully today we can get a bit done…

We had visitors in the store last night too so I was trying to cover the shoe department, be manager on duty and put out fires in the areas the visitors were checking on… after dinner it was much quieter…

And only two more days til vacation for a week… Yay!…

The boys are up and the squabbling has begun over cartoons on TV… isn’t one of those boys going to be nineteen this month…

I’m looking around me at all the things I get to do on vacation and I want to start cleaning now… it’s the weekend… it’ll go fast… and once at work, there is a ton of things to clean there… lots of women’s mismate shoes, clearance athletic shoes to mark, new boxes to open and general stockroom cleanup…. as soon as I found out I got the position I cleared my shelf/desk into a garbage bag and updated the communication binders for the new person… still need to make my boss a list for making the schedule and who does what so she can keep an eye on things til the new person starts…

Almost time for work but first clean the cat box and put the laundry away…

January Fourth

 

It’s Friday and already noon… I close today…

So only have a moment to blog… Hubby and I spent the morning talking and making plans…

I am on vacation next week… lots to do…

Need to make hubby and I a list…

What have I been doing since last I blogged…

I worked on New Year’s Day…Very busy and it went fast…

Son1 didn’t pick up Danny til 10:30pm on New Year’s… I was very grumpy with a headache and went to bed… it threw off the whole evening of getting the boys to bed and for hubby and I to settle for the night… however son1 and DIL were the ones who had to get up for work the next morning, we had the day off…

Day after New Year’s I was off… so we went out for the day… Hubby, I and the boys… we went to the Dollar Store… the Book Nook, used book store… Barnes and Noble… and the grocery store for pizza, salads, chicken strips, orange chicken, chips… special treat for dinner…

Yesterday back to work… we are still so very busy… lots of returns and shoppers… we can’t get anything cleaned up… hopefully this weekend I can finish getting my counts updated and finish mating up the women’s fashion boots that got tore up… and then address the mismate wall of all the other lost shoes… and that’s only a fraction of everything we need to get done…

I received the PGE bill the other day and discovered the little heaters are not any cheaper then running the central heating throughout the house… which needs a new circuit board… but then I looked at last year’s bill and they are pretty much the same cost…. so we have decided again not to fix the central heating, as the part would have to be ordered and schedule an appointment to have the work done, so could be another month and possibly warmer by then… so instead we are going to get the cars worked on, since we need them to get to work and look for jobs… hubby’s car needs an oil change, smogged and registration paid… and my car needs an oil change and the transmission fluid flushed… then eventually they will both need tune ups but not quite yet…

Oh, one more thing on New Year’s Day………………….

I GOT THE HARDWARE LEAD POSITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I start when I get back from vacation…

I got a raise…

It hasn’t been announced at work yet as not everyone who applied had been talked to… but I think yesterday they were… as a few managers were telling me congratulations, so it is starting to get out, you know how gossip spreads…

I did tell one of my associates as I did not want her to hear from someone else… She cried…. she told another associate on the team as she needed support… I wanted to tell a few others on the team as I’d rather they hear from me, but we were so busy yesterday I didn’t get to talk to anyone…

I’m very excited, and yet I’m torn and nervous…

I also feel since it’s so hush hush, I haven’t been allowed to be excited…

And my closing all weekend, I haven’t been available to be at the morning meetings so it can be announced… I’m sure when I come back from vacation it will be announced, so my first day of starting will be more exciting…

My last day in shoes is Sunday… after waiting so long, it’s all going so fast…

When others would say oh well, I’m leaving, I am frantically trying to get things done and cleaned up before I leave shoes…

I can’t believe it, after eight and a half years, I am finally leaving shoes, on to something new…

Time to get ready for work, only three days left in shoes…

December Thirty First

 

I am cleaning out my graphic folders, one folder at a time… These are all my Happy New Year graphics… I’m deleting all the graphics I don’t use so I can enjoy and use the ones I do like… I collected so many graphics during our years of AOL journaling…

Today is the last day of 2012… I am so looking forward to 2013…

Number one being that this is the year that hubby gets his new job…

Number two that I lose weight again… I’ve already started this week by trying to get my mind in the right place… but there’s still too much Christmas candy left in the house…

I’m making black eyed peas today… trying a different recipe this year that I found but changing it a bit and putting it on the stove instead of in the crock pot like in the recipe…

It’s frozen black eyed peas, collard greens, bell peppers, purple onion and pork stew meat…

We’re also having pizza, bean dip with tortilla chips, salad…

And sparling cider and arbor mist for the new year’s toast…

I’m putting away all the Christmas goodies today… especially the candy…

Hubby said he would start taking down the decorations tomorrow…

I really need the boys to clean their rooms while they are still on vacation… of course I’m hoping to get the cleaning started while I’m on vacation to set the standards for the new year…

Son1 is bringing Danny over to spend the night… He’ll be celebrating the new year with us home bodies… while Kona will celebrate with the young folk…

Son2 came home around 2pm after a night of Dungeons and Dragons with his friends… now he is showering and eating… then back with his friends to ring in the new year…

I’m doing the Christmas Thank you cards today…

I actually started this entry last night to get a start on today…

I did put away all the Christmas goodies this morning…

And started the laundry… hubby ran the dishwasher and then I emptied it, filled it and am now running a second load…

Son1 brought Danny over… he was so happy to be here… he was even happy to see the cats but they didn’t seem to remember him…

Son1 brought Kona’s bed pillow for me to sew since she chewed the side open…

Son3 finally got up just before noon… he’s been watching cartoons and is now gaming it…

I made the black eyed peas…

And this is how I made them…

32oz water with 2tbl chicken powder broth

2 pkg frozen black eyed peas

1 purple onion

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

1 green bell pepper chopped

1 red bell pepper chopped

2Tsp brown sugar

2Tsp spicy brown mustard

1 pkg collard greens

1 pkg pork stew meat, browned and seasoned with salt and pepper

I cooked it on the stove top instead of the crock pot…

It simmered for about an hour or more and then I added the collard greens for the last twenty minutes or so….

Now I’m fixing the bean dip in my new pan I got for Christmas and munching on chips…

Time to do the Thank You cards…

Thank you cards are done…

now on to the 2013 wall calendar… putting all the birthdays and anniversaries on it…

Calendar is done…

hubby has taken son2 to his friends New Year’s Eve get together…

Pizza is in the oven… I’ve already opened the Arbor Mist… now what shall we watch tonight…

Dinner was so good! We are so full…

The black eyed peas were excellent…

Hubby and I are watching Ghost Adventures…

I’m sewing Kona’s bed pillow…

And having another glass of Arbor Mist and breaking out the candy…

Even more full now after eating candy…

Watching Bones and The Big Bang Theory…

And Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve…

Back to work tomorrow…

And then off on Wednesday again…

Two hours til New Year’s Day…

Happy Journaling…

December Thirtieth

 

I need a new routine in the new year…

I find myself first thing in the morning, checking AOL news, checking email and then checking Facebook…

Then ninety minutes later I find I never did what I came on the computer to do in the first place… Blog…

But then it’s time to get off the computer and start the day…

But then I find myself throughout the day checking in on email and Facebook again and again…

I have things I want to do…

Like clean out all my graphic folders on the computer and save all my photos to cds and such…

And clean out every box, drawer and room in the house…

And clean the house…

And the yard…

I have big plans for the new year…

I was off today… and tomorrow… and then again on Wednesday…

And then I am on vacation the week of the seventh…

I had another interview for the new supervisor position on Friday… they had one more interview to do before making a decision… and so the wait continues… I’m torn between staying and going… I really want out of shoes but then I’m comfortable in shoes… It’ll take a bit of adjusting as I’ve been in shoes eight and a half years now…

Hubby got his unemployment extended again for another three months… so amazing and humbling… so very thankful…

Son2 is off at friends for the night playing Dungeons and Dragons… Son3 is playing with his Halo Mega Blox and watching cartoons… Hubby and I are watching XFiles…

Today hubby made pancakes for breakfast… the boys slept til noon… so I guess it was really lunch… then hubby and I went grocery shopping at two… and by time we got home and put everything away it was five… so it was time to fix dinner… then we watched the new Spiderman… son2 was right, I did like it better then the other Spiderman movies…
