January Twelfth

 

Today I forced the boys to go for a drive in the car…

I allowed them to bring their electronic devices…

They still whined and complained all the way there…

Once we got to Lewis Creek Trail in Oakhurst they had a great time…

I was hoping to see snow but was surprised as to how much was on the trail as there was none on the main road/highway…

The creek was frozen in some places…

We had brought coats and snow boots just in case and glad we did as it was cold…

There were others enjoying the trail also and a few with dogs with very cold paws I’m sure…

I was hoping to be up early and in the car so we could be back early in the afternoon and maybe go to the grocery store…

We were up a bit after 8am, hubby cut my hair again (he cut it the other day but it just wasn’t blending like I wanted in the back, so now it is way shorter then I wanted but at least it all blends from front to back now…), hubby made breakfast, the boys showered, and we were finally in the car just before noon…

We were then home by 4:15 stopping at Raley’s in Oakhurst for eggs, milk and French bread to go with Clam Chowder and chicken leftovers for dinner… the eggs and milk were so hubby could make a chocolate pudding cake… we are so full now…

We’ll go grocery shopping tomorrow…

Only one more day of vacation…

Actually I think I am excited to go back to work and get started on my new job…

Yesterday felt like Saturday and today Sunday, but tomorrow is Sunday so I still have one more day of vacation…

Tomorrow I want to work in the yard a bit but mostly get ready for work and son3 ready for back to school…

Backpacks and lunchboxes ready…

Mostly grocery shopping is for lunch things for school… son3 doesn’t want to buy his lunch anymore, he just wants to bring PB&J with an oatmeal cookie and Kool-Aid…

Hubby and son2 are watching the 49er game… the score is 45-23, 49ers over Packers…

Only just over a minute left in the game, of course they can drag that out for half an hour…

Packers scored: 45-31 with less then a minute…

Hubby is happy that the 49ers will win…

I’m off to find jammies and read my Nora Roberts, Once Upon a Castle…

Miss Indy Anna…

Day five of vacation… Friday… Felt like Saturday all day… cause everyone was home…

Pictures in the yard today… I still so want to work in the yard and trim everything back but it’s a bit chilly out there…

Today I was up at 7:30am and first thing, I cleaned the master bath… and hubby put in the new bathroom fan… after two years no more fan sounding like a blender grinding nails…

Hubby also got the oil changed in his car and took down a bunch more Christmas…

I cleaned out all my shirts, more went back in the closet than I wanted but I’ll just go through them again when the weather warms up…

I did about five loads of laundry…

Son2 got all his classes finally settled… he’ll be going just on Tues/Thurs… his classes: Pre Chemistry, Native American Indian Culture, Archeology and Interpersonal Communication… Today he ordered all his books and some graphic novels and a Halo book for son3…

I think the daffodils are a bit confused…

I made chicken for dinner… baked them with a mixture of onions, red pepper, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, chicken broth, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce and pepper… it was good but thought it would be tangier…

Son1 has dropped off Danny for the weekend…

Off to watch TV with hubby and make plans for tomorrow…

December Tenth

 

I realized something this morning…. It takes me three days of vacation before I settle into vacation… and today being day four, it was a very good day… please remind me of this next vacation as I realized it last vacation and forgot til today…

So I started the 2013 jar of blessings to be read on New Year’s Eve of this year… lots in there already and it’s only the tenth…

Yesterday I made chocolate chip cookies… finished reading son2’s book: Mark of Athena… sorted through my pajamas for Goodwill… made kielbasa, rice, macaroni & cheese, peas & carrots, salad, and cheese bread for dinner… watched a whole disc of The Big Bang Theory and a couple of Ghost Adventures with hubby…

I did not sleep very well last night, may have been because I skipped my Gapentin, showing me that I do need to take it… I woke just before 3am and did not fall back asleep til 4am, not that my mind was really thinking anything, then woke at 5am, again at 7am and finally got up at 9am as it was now time to get son2 to college…

First thing this morning I checked my schedule online and yay finally a schedule for work… and I don’t go back til Monday at 6am… so I get my full vacation…

Then I emailed my doctor about the restriction on my refill and she ordered me a whole three month supply and they are getting ready to be shipped now…

Plus hubby had an interview today with a temp agency!!! actually he had applied for a job that was posted through them but then they called him yesterday so he could come in and be set up in their system so they could call him when jobs become available… to the point that if he was to find a job somewhere else he has to give the temp agency a two week notice…

While hubby was at his interview I gave myself a pedicure, ran the dishwasher and washed all the pots and pans, got caught up on blog reading and filled the 2013 jar of blessings…

Son2 thinks he has a very good chance of getting back in the class he skipped on Tuesday to try to get into another class… and then he can drop his Mon/Wed class and only have Tues/Thurs classes… which will limit our having to take him every day… however he still has to learn to drive and make a plan to get to school by bus or bike until he learns to drive as one of these days soon I know hubby will have a job and all of our morning starting times will not mesh too well leaving son2 without a ride… he needs to be inconvenienced… we make it too easy for him…

Hubby has cleared two more sections of Christmas from the house… still more to go and then the tree… but not today…

January Ninth

 

All right I don’t know what I’m waiting for… well except for the phone to ring for hubby to get a job… I have great plans for all I want to get done for each day… and yet here I sit… at almost noon… on the third day of my vacation…

We were up early this morning… hubby got son2 off to college… I got showered, dressed, breakfast, son3 up showing me his videos on his DS and now he is on computer games, read some of my book, checked email, Facebook, blogs, Pinterest, hubby and I scratched our lotto scratchers from Christmas, winning a ticket and $4, hubby picked up son2 from college and I ate lunch…

Hubby is off getting the van oil changed and transmission fluid flushed…

Son2 is on his laptop…

I had planned on doing the above, especially when the first day of the new year was getting the new position… day nine and I haven’t started, not that there would have to be something in the jar every day… but yet as usual not following through with plans…

Speaking of work, I had plans of not thinking about work this week as I am technically between jobs so don’t have to worry about the old position and only have to look forward to the new position… nor did I have to go to work today to make the team schedule like I usually do on vacation… and yet there is no schedule posted for me and schedules are due today and my new boss is off so he would finish the schedule yesterday… so do I go in on Monday and work my old manager schedule (our schedules are posted for the whole month) or do I go in on Sunday and work the schedule of the job I’m replacing… now of course I’m thinking the Sunday schedule so I’ll be there for the ad as me and the other lead work opposite weekends… whatever I decide I’m seeing I’m going to have to call work and find out… and how’s that not thinking about work while I’m on vacation…

I’ve been thinking about doing some simple yoga to ease back into exercise and as not to irritate my neck… so I’ve been finding all kinds of pictures at Pinterest… but of course I have to actually do them…

Today I’m hoping to clean out my shirts… over a year ago I cleaned out my pants… and have yet to get to the shirts… and bake some cookies… and trim the roses… and finish reading my book: Mark of Athena… this seems reasonable and yet I foresee many interruptions from all the boys in the house… and empty the dishwasher that hubby ran this morning and fill and run it again as there are still dishes left to do… I’ve still left the dishes to him since he has not been working, but the last six months or so he is starting to fizzle out… so I want to get back into a habit of doing dishes too…

Let’s see what’s on the list of things I wanted to get done this week…

Email Kaiser Doctor as I keep running out of my Gabapentin as it blocks me from refilling til it thinks it’s time, not to mention the week I have to wait to receive in the mail…

Son2’s Birthday is at the end of the month: plan a little something…

Walk room by room and make a plan to do one thing every day this year…

Wash bedding…

Laundry…

Dishes…

Cooking/Baking…

Clean out my shirts/pajamas…

Posters in son3’s room…

Ok this is how I wanted to start the week with this entry…

I’ve gotten a slow start to the week, but then it’s vacation and getting son2 settled back in college, and getting son3 back in the mind set that school starts next week and regrouping with hubby…

Did I mention that son1 called and somehow now we are watching Danny this weekend from Friday night through Sunday night as he and DIL are going to see family and work on his Jeep… They’ll take Kona with them…

January Eighth

 

Day two of vacation is almost over…

Here are the black eyed peas and collard greens we had for New Year’s…

Here are the books I got when we went out last week…

The three paperbacks were from the Used Book Store… They were half off the retail price on the books…. so $3.50ea… but found a better deal at Barne’s and Noble… the two on the bottom were $6.98ea… of course the one on the bottom is book 4-6 of the Sookie Stackhouse Series and I don’t have 1-3… so more books have to be bought…

Yesterday son2 went back to college… he has one class on Mon, Wed and three classes on Tues, Thurs… he was hoping to add one class on Tues, Thurs and drop his Mon, Wed class…. so today he sat on the one class and got in but skipped another class hoping to add another class which he wasn’t able to and probably got dropped from the class he was registered in… so now he is mad at himself as he doesn’t want to keep the Mon, Wed class as it has a bunch of field trips… I don’t know why he does this to himself every time it’s time to pick classes… we did this all the way through high school… I blame them for letting him change classes in high school… so he and hubby are “discussing” it right here where I’m trying to write in my blog… the decision at the moment is to drop Mon, Wed and find another class to add to Tues, Thurs…

Yesterday hubby called son1 and had him order parts for the bathroom shower faucet and the bathroom fan… son1 brought them over after work and stayed for dinner… he got us hooked on a new show called Practical Jokers… so funny!

Yesterday I started taking down the Christmas in the house… hubby’s late on taking down the Christmas this year for some reason….

Today hubby called the heater guy and we now have central heat again… only $240 for part and labor…

He also took down all the Christmas decorations outside…

I washed all the bedding from the beds…

And cleaned out son3’s clothes…

And took down all the stickers from son3’s walls and hung up his new poster of SpongeBob from Christmas…

Next he needs to clean his room… and get rid of all his toys as he plays with nothing… except video games…

And son2 has not done anything to his room since moving and he’s now back to school after being off for three weeks…

It’s hot in here… we are used to being chilly with just the little floor heaters… we had the central heater set for 65 but our thermostat says it’s 69-70 in here… phew…. hubby has now turned it off as it’s almost bedtime…

There was more to be written but I’ve forgotten now as I have zero retention lately and with all the discussing with son2 about college classes I’m getting a headache…

I’ve been spending a bit of time at Pinterest… I’ve figured out what I’m going to make for hubby for Valentine’s…

We’re watching Family Guy from Sunday… they are so bad…
