Quilt Origins...

I love quilts too... Someday I may have the time and patience to make one... I enjoy reading fictional books based on quilts also... And I was gonna put in where the quilts came from in the last entry but I figured, nah, you guys would just enjoy seeing them, but no, lol, everyone wants to know... None of my quilts have any stories really... The first four we bought at department stores here or there, probably Sears or Walmart or a Bed and Bath store, I can't remember now.. Number 4 we picked up at Sears last year for Christmas... This year we found one on clearance at Walmart for $15 and we put it away for this Christmas... Number 5 son3 received as a baby shower gift and was purchased at a craft bizarre... It came with a matching pillow and elephant... Number 6 was made by hubby's Grandma... I asked him if he knew any history behind it but he said no, just that she had made it... And number 7 was a Christmas present from a relative that their neighbor had made...

Now I am home from work and I have tomorrow off!!! And hubby has tomorrow off!!! and the boys don't have to go to school!!! I came home and hubby went off to the store, he said, to pick up a special treat for dinner... Hubby and the boys did lots of yard work today... I'm thinking he is getting deli chicken... He's picking up some chips too so I should make some dip.... We have more Alien Nations to watch tonight and maybe I'll put a fire in the fireplace... Will have to check if it is a burn day... Our temps are finally dipping to the 60's and Friday we may only see 59 and rain... Work was good today... I got the ad set in record time... I have most of the after Thanksgiving specials set up... And the supervisor and I knocked out a lot of boxes today... Actually she is still there opening away... My cold is slowly getting better... I'm just glad no more headaches... Now just a stuffy nose and a husky voice, lol... OK I'm off to make that dip for when the chips get here....
Happy Journaling...

So glad you are feeling better and glad everyone is off tomorrow! That's a treat! (Well, except for the fact that I have to work, but only a two day week for us :-)
Thanks for filling us in on the quilts. If I knew how to make them I'd make you one - but I don't - it's the thought that counts right? LOL!
Have fun tomorrow. I'll "see" you when I get home!

Hope you all had a wonderful day together! I have several wonderful old quilts in the attic that some of my family made....but alas they are not in good enough shape to display or to use. I would so like to find someone who'd fix them up for me without charging an enormous price.

I love quilts too. I have one that my great grandmother made for my dad in 1939 (double wedding ring. It was gently packed away until my mom died in 1987. My dad gave it to me shortly after that and I have it hanging from a wall hung quilt rack right here by my computer. Great grandma embroidered her initials & my dad's initials and then 1939 in one corner of this quilt. I have a girlfriend that makes quilts for everyone she knows. Both my kids have baby quilts she made for them and she also made a quilt for both my grandkids. Have a wonderful day off...all of you! Linda in Washington

I have to tell you--i found these BRAND NEW Dr. Scholl brown loafers at Goodwill this summer for $4. They are $35 shoes. Gorgeous. Fit perfectly. I was in love. Guess what?
TJ ate the back off one of them Mon night. I was in tears. Now WTH am i supposed to wear this winter? Dogs. UGH. Rick said use a brown marker to color in the chew marks. For Pete's sakes. I hope this made you smile.
Tickled that you got surprise dinner and have a few days off. Enjoy yourself. XO

Paul has Wedn. off from school too. It's going to be great to finally have some time off with him. 5 days, with the only time we are away from one another is when he has band practice Friday evening. Sounds like your family is ready to have a relaxing holiday together. Thanks for filling us in on the quilts. I want to be able to make one someday too. I need a sewing machine and my daughters know how first. (Hugs)Indigo
