The Day After

Grrrrr... I was changing things around in the blog and see that hello snowman picture up there, I can't delete it.... So I'm gonna walk away and fight with it some more tomorrow...

Well I survived today at work but boy are we tore up... I feel bad for the closers, a little... I got there at 5am and both doors had people lined up around the building... A few people stopped in shoes but most of them were running for electronics... By 8am however everyone was in shoes and tearing up the women's fashion boots... The men's work boot tables I could clean and keep stocking... The women's fashion boot tables no one would let us near them... And there were boxes and lids and boots and paper everywhere... I would clear a little spot on the table to stock some more boots, turn around and some one would have already dumped boots in the empty spot that were in their way... So I stuck with the men's, athletics and kids tables... And I made sure I was in the stockroom most of the day opening boxes trying to find more sale shoes... I went to breakfast/lunch at 9am... Almost finished my next book by Max Lucado, The Christmas Candle.. It's a quick read and very cute story... I was off at 1:45 but had to wait til 2, when everyone was back from their lunches... Tomorrow I go back 6-2:45 and I have a lot of stocking to do in men's shoes.... And finish opening the rest of the boxes and we will be officially caught up...

We had a good Thanksgiving yesterday... Phone calls to family, lots of good food, and son1 and girlfriend did stop by finally at 5pm... We had just finished eating... We weren't sure they were going to be able to come as girlfriend fell at work and hurt her back... Not an hour after we called son1 in the morning to find out if they were able to come over, son1 called back saying she had hurt herself and he was taking her to the doctor... By 3:30 we had heard nothing so son2 called and son1 said she didn't go to the doctor and after they finished getting ready they would be over... We went ahead and ate and they arrived just before 5pm... They ate, we talked a bit, had pie and then at 6pm they were out the door and on the way to girlfriend's family... OK then... So we had more pie, lol, and watched Fred Claus... Not a bad movie, better than I was expecting...

Two more days and the boys are back to school... Son2 is more than ready, he just doesn't know what to do with himself... Son3 thought he still had four more days, lol... We haven't even read son3's library books and both boys need haircuts...Nor have we done son3's practice book or has he worn his patch... And I still haven't got to the Christmas cards... They are sitting on the table still waiting... But I do hope to work on them tonight and maybe watch a movie with the boys, Christmas Vacation... But I have blogs to read... and laundry to do... and I'm tired... I had some turkey as soon as I got home, with stuffing on a roll... and some pumpkin pie... Son3 has uncrustables and son2 just had pumpkin pie... The turkey still calls me though... And Raisin is circling my chair as the turkey is calling him too, lol, he already had some twice when I got home...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!! Hubby has the turkey in the oven and Christmas music playing... I am waiting for the parade to start, any minute now... The boys are still sleeping, lol... No, I hear one of the boys making his way down the hall.......

I survived work last night, barely... There were six of us when I first got there and we began setting up the ad at 3pm... I set up all the big signs while four of the associates signed the individual shoes... By six the two day associates went home and I had signed all the athletic shoes... So I took over and finished signing all the men's shoes... Two of the associates had signed kids and the supervisor was still signing women's... At 6:30pm we started dinners... At 7pm one of the associates who I thought was at dinner came to me and said she didn't feel well and I told her to go to dinner or at least go sit down since she didn't feel well to the supervisor got back from dinner, I think the associate went home as we never saw her again the rest of the night... By 7:40pm it was my turn for dinner... I finished reading my book, Middle of Nowhere, finally, it was so dry, a police who done it, so I had to find who done it... When I got back from dinner the store was closing and I then had to put up all the signs for the Friday morning specials... We were so busy with customers however and the department was tore up and the last customers finally left a half hour after the store was closed.... So supervisor and the other associate were busy cleaning and then I helped them from ten to midnight... We are still rough looking but I was able to stock a bit for the last twenty minutes too.... OK now I will not think about work until tomorrow morning at 3:30am when I have to get up and do it again...

Both boys are up now and getting comfy in front of the TV with the parade... Hubby is banging pot and pans in the kitchen cleaning up and heating up the giblets from the turkey for Raisin, such a spoiled kitty... We have left over pancakes and muffins for breakfast... I want to get all the Christmas cards addressed today... And the tree is still waiting for hubby to put lights on it.... Son3 is calling son1 to tell him Happy Thanksgiving... They woke him up, lol... Son1 said they would come over after 3pm when girlfriend got off work...

OK I'm off to watch the parade and get some hot chocolate and breakfast... Everyone have a Blessed Day!!!

Waiting

I don't like all this waiting ... I just want to be done with work already... I have done some laundry, the dishes, ate breakfast, cleaned the boys bathroom, now I'm getting ready to clean my bathroom... Son2 has set up the Christmas tree, so now hubby can fluff out the branches and put the lights on... Son2 is watching Fred Claus... Son3 is playing his games... And I am just waiting for it to be time to go to work... Twelve hours from now I will be back home, lol... And it will officially be Thanksgiving... Hubby will make the pumpkin pies tonight... Then tomorrow put the turkey in the oven and any other things that need cooking will go in the toaster oven... Haven't heard from son1 yet, so may just be us for Thanksgiving... No traveling again... No fun with no time off when you work retail... I have a sinus headache from this cold still... It rained all last night and still wet out there today... At some time the power went out, good thing I didn't have to get up for work this morning as my clock was flashing away... Ok almost time to finally start getting ready for work...
See everyone tomorrow for Turkey...

Dinnertime

I am trying to make dinner and not doing a very good job... I was trying to think of something quick and easy that I felt like eating and maybe the boys would eat too... I saw hubby had picked up some kielbasa and I found a box of macaroni and cheese but I have been wanting to try baking the macaroni and cheese, so I checked on line for baking temps and it is now in the oven... However when opening the box of noodles I dropped it on the floor and spilled half the noodles out, argh! So I threw some frozen chicken pieces on the stove with some garlic and herb and teriyaki sauce... and I am making white rice with teriyaki sauce just in case the macaroni and cheese and kielbasa is a flop... Hubby just called, he's on his way home, sheesh I'm spoiled, I don't like it when I have to work a full day, I've lost my down time between work and dinner...

Work was good today though, I got lots done and had lots of help and floor coverage, new person started today... All the tables are set for the big specials for Friday, I got all the boxes cleared in the hallway, if the guys bring up what's left and fill the hall, then once I open those, we will officially be caught up... Actually we are way ahead, so much more than last Christmas when we were still trying to finish remodel... I just hope we have what everyone is looking for... lol... Tomorrow I have to close til midnight... we will be putting up all the signs and finishing up the last details... Then I will be back bright and early Friday morning at 5am for all the crazy people, you know who you are, that will be waiting outside in the cold and dark for the doors to open, lol... After that December is a breeze....
Besides work today and fixing dinner I have nothing else to report except hubby got his results in the mail that everything is normal and nothing to worry about from his colonopscopy...
Tonight Fringe is on...

Holiday Time...

We are having a nice day off today... We slept in til 9am, that was so nice... We had breakfast of fried eggs and muffins; pumpkin, banana or chocolate chip... Son3 has been enjoying every minute that he can on his computer games... Son2 is bored and doesn't know what to do with himself, but bug son3... I have been happily cleaning... The front room is dusted and vacuumed and son2 started bringing in a bit of Christmas from the garage... The above picture is of the table as you come in the front door... I have swept the kitchen, wiped down all the counters, cleaned up school papers, started the dishwasher, and now just have to wash the pans... Dinner will be easy of leftover chicken from last night...

I have cleaned off the dining room table and vacuumed... Hubby brought in all the donations to Goodwill yesterday so that is no longer sitting in the dining room.... The picture is of our center piece... I have had candles burning all day.... We weren't able to have a fire last night as it is non burn days right now due to the fog and overcast, making for bad air days... We are supposed to have rain tomorrow and Wednesday... I vacuumed and dusted the family room and moved all the spring knick knacks to the back and pulled all the snowmen forward... Last night after dinner hubby decided to hook up the new digital box to the family TV.... Hook up he figured out easily... All of us fighting over the remote to figure out how to get it to work and program everything, yea, that wasn't fun, lol... By then it was almost 8pm and we were all grumpy and tired... So finally got it all programed, so began checking out the new channels... I went around a few times, then son2 went around a few times and then hubby went around a few times, like they were going to find something that I hadn't already clicked on, lol... Not to mention there was nothing on and we had shows to watch that we had taped... but they were too mesmerized by the new digital... So by 9pm, I woke up, put son3 in his room with a movie and went to bed... Of course then hubby and son2 followed me, lol, and son2 went to his room and hubby and I watched Numbers...

Cornucopia that son2 and son3 put together this morning...

Hubby is outside putting the Christmas lights up on the outside of the house...

Son2 was outside supervising hubby but now he is back bugging son3 on the computer....
Now it's time to get back to my chores... Wash the pans, move the laundry around, the checkbook needs attention again and start on the Christmas cards... I want everything almost done by next week, so in December I just have to wrap and enjoy the season...

Quilt Origins...

I love quilts too... Someday I may have the time and patience to make one... I enjoy reading fictional books based on quilts also... And I was gonna put in where the quilts came from in the last entry but I figured, nah, you guys would just enjoy seeing them, but no, lol, everyone wants to know... None of my quilts have any stories really... The first four we bought at department stores here or there, probably Sears or Walmart or a Bed and Bath store, I can't remember now.. Number 4 we picked up at Sears last year for Christmas... This year we found one on clearance at Walmart for $15 and we put it away for this Christmas... Number 5 son3 received as a baby shower gift and was purchased at a craft bizarre... It came with a matching pillow and elephant... Number 6 was made by hubby's Grandma... I asked him if he knew any history behind it but he said no, just that she had made it... And number 7 was a Christmas present from a relative that their neighbor had made...

Now I am home from work and I have tomorrow off!!! And hubby has tomorrow off!!! and the boys don't have to go to school!!! I came home and hubby went off to the store, he said, to pick up a special treat for dinner... Hubby and the boys did lots of yard work today... I'm thinking he is getting deli chicken... He's picking up some chips too so I should make some dip.... We have more Alien Nations to watch tonight and maybe I'll put a fire in the fireplace... Will have to check if it is a burn day... Our temps are finally dipping to the 60's and Friday we may only see 59 and rain... Work was good today... I got the ad set in record time... I have most of the after Thanksgiving specials set up... And the supervisor and I knocked out a lot of boxes today... Actually she is still there opening away... My cold is slowly getting better... I'm just glad no more headaches... Now just a stuffy nose and a husky voice, lol... OK I'm off to make that dip for when the chips get here....

Saturday at Work

I made it through working my first Saturday in forever... Although I didn't think I would make it the whole day as I was so sick this morning... I felt like my eyeballs were going to pop out of my head and that my forehead was huge sticking two feet out in front of me... and I was so tired, felt like I was walking through quicksand... I got to work at 7am, we were open with our door buster savings... It was way foggy outside but a handful of people made it in to shop... They finished shopping and our regular crowd came in at 9am, lol... I set up our wee ad this morning... And then proceeded to lug two big tables up the stairs... Someone was supposed to help me by doing it yesterday but that didn't happen... They were only way heavy cause I didn't feel good... So I moved the men's table to the women's side and filled it up with women's fashion boots... and then set up the two new tables in men's and filled them with work boots... I then proceeded to stock all the work boots I opened yesterday... I cleaned up the stockroom a bit and stocked some athletic shoes... Meanwhile our 9am person called out on today being one of those days where it is all hands on deck and everyone is to work... grrrr..... Another person came in at 10am and by 10:30am I could barely take it anymore and went to lunch early... I called hubby, drank a soda, took some ibuprofen, choked down my chimichanga and watched college football... By 11:40am I was feeling a bit better and headed back to work... By time I got to the floor, I felt great!! I couldn't believe it... What a difference... So in between all the too much chatting and making plans for setting up the ad for Friday I made a small dent in opening some more boxes... I still feel the headache lingering in the back and my nose is a bit stuffy and I'm coughing a bit, but I think I am finally on the mend... Now son3 says he doesn't feel well...
Son2 is bugging me... I told him he will make my headache come back and he will have to do all my chores, lol... He's gone off to watch Madagascar with son3... They're eating chocolate chip muffins for dinner... I'm such a bad mom, lol... I just finished eating my lunch from work that I couldn't eat this morning... Ok now, hubby's not due home for a couple of hours... should I read some blogs, watch Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 with son2 or fix something else to eat.... maybe time for all three...

Nine Days!!

The boys are now out of school for the next nine days!! I have two of those days off, one being Thanksgiving... but no homework, although I told son3 we would try to work on his practice book... I think yesterday he was on vacation already and that is why he didn't do his work in class, lol... However either because I'm sick or I was ready for them to be done with school a few days too, I discovered when I was showing hubby the work son3 didn't do in class that we had skipped about six pages... I was busy doing my work and not paying attention, so when he turned the page, he went from page 1 to page 5... so while I was making dinner, between me and hubby we got the rest done... so much for my early evening, we didn't eat dinner til after seven... We did get to watch Smallville and Supernatural, they were so good... Now they are done to the middle of January... Son2 and I have Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 to watch this weekend... And now that everyone is wanting to watch my Alien Nations, I have to wait til we are all home to watch them, lol... Ghost Whisperer comes on tonight though...

Work was good today although I had a headache all day from my cold... Still do, my head feels so big and heavy, lol... I found out that the other associate that worked yesterday also called out sick... of course she is the one who gave me the cold... Today I didn't get distracted and opened a ton of boxes... that is my goal this weekend to get all caught up on the boxes so we have all the shoes ready for the day after Thanksgiving... I do have an ad to set in the morning and then again on Sunday... and then I close Wednesday night to set the ad for the day after Thanksgiving... which I will be at work bright and early Friday morning at 5am... We don't get busy til about 7am though, as it is wise to clear the aisles when they open the doors as everyone is heading for brand central and electronics...

Well son3 is already on his games and son2 is waiting behind me for a turn on the computer and I am starving, so I'm going to see what kind of soups hubby got at the store today...

One More...

I'm starving and feeling a bit better... just a tickle in my throat and still tired... I got all the laundry done, just have to fold it and washed all my bedding for my bed... Barely made a dent in reading blogs, need to get into a more consistent routine... The boys got home from school and son2 did his chores and the dishes... who was that and what did he do with son2... Son3 had a bad day at school... Refused to do his classwork... So instead of just having to write his missed spelling words, he also had about six pages of classwork to do... So I got all the bills paid while he was working on that... Both boys have already had their showers... I was thinking of having one, but time to get the omelets made before hubby gets home... Smallville and Supernatural are new tonight, so that will be good... And I didn't realize until this afternoon that today was my 28th Anniversary working at Sears...
Happy Journaling...

Home Sick

I'm home sick today... It started yesterday with a sore throat, last night I tossed and turned all night, Raisin woke me at 3am, son3 woke me at 3:30am, the alarm woke me at 5:30am... I got up for work, was taking a shower and thought you know, I really am sick, I should stay home today cause after this weekend, we are going to be lucky to get a day off til Christmas... My throats not sore anymore, but my head hurts, my nose is stuffy, my teeth hurt, my back hurts, my ribs hurt, I'm starting to cough... and I'm so tired.....
So I got son2 off to school, called into work, someone answered by the third time I called, hubby got son3 off to work and then himself off to work... I have had hot chocolate, lots of orange pineapple banana juice, cola, and chicken soup... I got all the ecards for December bdays ready to send... I did a bit of Christmas shopping for hubby online... And two loads of laundry... all from the comfort of my computer, lol... Next I'm hoping to get caught up a bit on blog reading, I am so far behind.... then when the boys get home from school, I can do a bit of paperwork and such while they do homework... then make some ham and cheese omelets for dinner... I think Smallville and Supernatural are repeats tonight, not sure, but if they are we can watch some more Alien Nation, I've got the whole family hooked on it now, lol...
Last night hubby came home from his appointment for his colonopscopy and boy was he all worked up, in more ways then one, lol... ok, poor thing, I'll be nice... His appointment was at 2:15pm, he finally got in the office at 3pm and finally was with the doctor at 3:30pm... By time he got home it was after 5pm and no chicken... He was all mad cause everyone kept reassuring him that it would be a piece of cake and he believed them... and no one told him that the doctor filled you with air so he could see what he needed to see.... so he comes home all bloated and uncomfortable, trying to tell me what the doctor said but all agitated and yelling at me, so I yelled at him, got him calmed down and let's start at the beginning of the story and not the end... he kept trying to tell me that everyone has what the doctor found and it's no big deal and the doctor took a biopsy just in case on the polyp he found and he was sure it would come back benign.... and I'm like what the heck???!!! Why is it every time hubby goes to the doctor they have to put thoughts in his head... can't they just do the test and send him the results without all the what ifs... Sheesh when I go to the doctor, I get nothing and then the results come saying all is fine... And then they gave hubby a pamphlet in Spanish all about Diverticulosis and Diverticulitis, which is what the doctor told him everyone has to some degree... Whatever........ I asked hubby do you ever have any pain when you eat nuts, he said no, the doctor said nuts is an irritant... I said OK then, you don't have it... Hubby told me that when I get my back pain from eating popcorn, that I have it... I said no, I had my gall bladder out and I shouldn't eat popcorn cause it can't travel through as well now, and that is what causes my pain... So anyway after hubby calmed down a bit, he decided that he would take son2 to Carl's Jr to get dinner since he could go through the drive thru and not have to get out of the car, lol.... By 8:30pm his air had cleared and he was feeling much better, lol... We watched Bones, so funny, Criminal Minds, hubby is getting into this show now and we both fell asleep at the beginning of CSI NY... the boys were asleep early at 9pm... This morning hubby did say he was up at midnight with heartburn but this morning he was feeling better and glad his ordeal was all over, for five years anyway....

Wednesday's Goings Ons...

Today has been a short slow day... It's already 4pm and yet, it's only 4pm... lol.... Hubby is finally at his appointment, which I think made for the slow day, waiting for it to be time for him to go, although he was busy drinking the yucky stuff he had to drink and the water and then the you know, to get ready for the appointment....

So I got son2 off to school this morning and then son3 and on the way home I finally stopped by the overflow pond to take pictures of the birds... There weren't the hundreds I have been seeing there, but there were still a couple except they were on the far shore, so I couldn't zoom in too close... But the sun was glistening on the water just so....

Then back at home I got the Thanksgiving greetings done, checked online for son2 a cellphone and plan from Cricket for Christmas and Smuckers online for some ideas for Christmas... My books I ordered all came, and you do realize they are all for me and son2... The big question of the year is send out gifts this year, or not.... I'm thinking just Christmas cards with family photos in them this year...

Son2 got his progress report... Six B's and Two A's.... Very good.... Son3 has already finished his homework for today... He and son2 are watching Splat, a paintball movie... I now have two double feature Alien Nation movies to watch and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2... Fringe was very good last night and then I fell right to sleep, lol... Tonight is Bones, Criminal Minds and CSI NY...

The drama from yesterday continued today as the boy's toilet overflowed on son3... He comes running in and stares at me with big deer eyes, and I tell him you left the water on, go turn it off, so he runs back to the bathroom, and the runs back and stares at me with big deer eyes again, and says no mom, the toilet.... oh my goodness, water everywhere... well at least now the boy's bathroom got cleaned today...

I told hubby since he hadn't eaten solid food since Monday night to bring home deli chicken family pack on his way home from his appointment... So I'm just waiting on some chicken wings and to hear how hubby's appointment went... I think I'm getting a cold, sore throat, cough, headache.....

Tuesday Day

Back at work today... I got to work this morning and could not find our hand held price scanner, so wasted a half hour looking for it and then gave up... Cleaned off the go back rack and the table in our stockroom of supplies... Stocked the men's and women's athletic clearance.. Stocked the kid's clearance... Stocked the men's work boots, oh, and look what I found on the sales floor in the work boots, the hand held price scanner... Put it on the charger and stocked the women's hanging shoes... Store is now open, so I scan the men's shoes and all athletic shoes to find what styles are missing from the floor with the hand held... 11am, time for lunch, phone rings, associate due in at 11am, asking what time they work today, 11:40am, associate finally arrives, off to lunch... The rest of the day I opened lots of boxes...

Finally home, the boys are home from school, Raisin is yelling at me, son3's cereal bowl is still out from breakfast, full of ants, son3 bumps me causing me to spill the bowl of cereal, put the meowing cat in the garage, clean up the milk, clean up the ants, boys relaxing with PBS, walk down hall to shower and change from work, find cat throw up in hall, reason for all the meowing, clean up the cat throw up, take shower, put on jammies at 4 in the afternoon, lol, 225 crunches, let cat back in, feed cat, check email, computer keeps freezing, AOL kicking me off, fix easy dinner tonight just for me and the boys, whatever you want, let son2 have time on computer, time for son3 to do homework, load the dishwasher, wash all the pots and pans, help son3 with spelling sentences and reading, hubby home, pry son2 off computer, boys in shower, boys out of shower, me writing entry.... phew... it was more relaxing at work...

The reason me and the boys had a quick dinner before hubby came home is because he is having a routine colonopscopy tomorrow, so he is on a liquid diet today of chicken broth, jello and 7-Up... and we didn't want to eat in front of him... Tomorrow I have the day off and hubby is off because of his appointment... But more about that tomorrow... Meanwhile Fringe comes on tonight, so off to get the boys settled and hopefully I can stay awake for Fringe and a few more shows of catching up... But I don't know my eyes are already feeling heavy...

Walmart Monday

After two weeks of working Mondays, hubby and I were off together today and what did we do.... Go to Walmart of course, lol... Got the boys some jeans for school, cat food for Raisin, laundry soap, dishwasher soap, people soap, some things for Christmas, stocking stuffers, some treats for the boys advent calender, toilet paper, socks and undies, and a few other unmentionables... We checked on the TV's the boys will be getting for Christmas to update them for digital... We were there for hours... that Walmart time zone change really eats into a day.... Other than that we got the boys off to school, talked a bit over breakfast and got the boys home from school.... Now the boys are having a snack, then homework, dinner of leftovers, showers, Sarah Conner Chronicles and then bedtime... Tomorrow work and school for everyone... Right now hubby is installing the wireless weather station we got him for Father's Day, that he is finally taking a moment to see how it works... so far we haven't got it to work... it's not showing info for our time zone.... we'll give it a day or two to link with the weather station transmitter.... Otherwise nothing exciting today... The sink is full of dishes, the laundry is still waiting, bills still to pay and plants to water...

**Sunday**

Today was a fast day... Up at 4:30am, off to work by 6am... Set up the ad... Store opens at 10am... Finally done setting up the ad by 10:45am... Off to lunch... Back to work at 11:30am... Stock workboots, stock workboots, stock workboots.... Off work at 2pm...

Now I'm home... hubby had cleaned up all of the leaves from the patio this morning... of course new ones are now falling, lol... The boys have about fifteen more minutes before the game computers get shut down til Friday... I have chicken, potatoes and cream of chicken soup all baking in the oven... As soon as it's done I'm gonna broil some ribs... fix some corn and garlic toast and heat up any leftovers from the fridge...

Last night hubby and I watched last weeks Numbers and Eleventh Hour, although I think I fell asleep during Eleventh Hour, so will need to rewind, lol... Tonight we will watch Clone Wars with the boys and then get caught up on CSI and maybe CSI NY or Ghost Whisperer... I saw Ghost Whisperer but hubby is curious about it now... Not sure if I like where they are going, will have to wait and see where they are going with this new plot... Tomorrow hubby and I are off, so after the boys are off to school we will make a strategy plan for Christmas shopping...
Off to check on the chicken...
