Roses and Clouds

A few things still blooming in my yard…

And a few clouds as we may have some rain…

IMG_0003

Today hubby and I were up and out the door to take son3 to school so we could go to the grocery store… it was a quick shop and we were back home in an hour including time to take son3 to school… why can’t all grocery shops be that quick…

And then what did I do…

I can’t remember…

I’m sure I was on the laptop, oh yes, I read some blogs…

I sorted through another paper pile of old instruction manuals…

I did the dishes and washed the counters…

I put in a load of laundry…

I threw away the rugs in the kitchen… actually they are bath mats, but I like them in the kitchen as the rubber bottoms stop them from slipping… however too many washes and the rubber bottoms are disintegrating and causing a big mess so in the garbage they went…

I sorted through some old posters that had come out of a closet with all the room moving… the two graphics I’m using today are two of the posters… the bear used to hang in my room in teenage years and the duck hung over my desk at work in the bay area… I took a picture of them and cropped them into graphics… and now the bear poster is going to Goodwill and son2 took the attitude poster… hubby had some posters we cleaned out too…

I had called my friend this morning to ask about making the schedule today and she called me back when she got into work… so off to work I went from 2-4pm to make the schedule for Thanksgiving week… I’m sure there will be changes plus I still don’t know my schedule for the whole week yet…

They also asked if I could come back to work on Friday so I can discuss schedules and putting a register temporarily in the department for Black Friday… I had a feeling I would be back to work on Friday… but at least I don’t have to close…

I also saw a humming bird in the back yard while I was on the phone with my friend…

Then when I came home from work sons3 was doing homework…

and Hubby was perplexed over a box that came in the mail… it was his heater he ordered but didn’t look like the picture of the one online… the description matched so I think someone put the wrong picture on the website… I was more concerned that it cost 12 dollars more then the little one that he bought the other day to use until the big one came… and the big one is the same size as the little one… so tomorrow we will be returning the one that came in the mail to Walmart… the one we have been using has been heating the family room just fine…

Dinner is finally ready… More on that after dinner…

Dinner was yummy…

Hubby and I were hamburged out after the last two nights, we aren’t used to eating beef, so tonight we had some pasta with marinara sauce and a green salad… and bread and butter…

Hubby is now fixing me a piece of chocolate cake with whipped cream…

I so need to quit eating…

I’ve gained ever so many pounds on vacation since last week…

I know I will drop some once I get back to work… but I want to lose even more… and that will only happen if I quit eating… I will work on that tomorrow…

Boys are getting ready for school and bed…

Hubby and I have DVR shows to watch… How I Met Your Mother, Raising Hope, Ghost Adventures, Beyond Belief, The Mentalist…

Autumn-leaf-Wreath

Today hubby and I spent the day at home…

He did take son2 to college and son3 to school…

He spent time on the computer applying for jobs…

I spent part of yesterday and most of this morning cleaning up all the blogs I follow… I deleted over a hundred that either didn’t exist, went private or hadn’t updated in over eight months… A few more may go if no new updates appear as some haven’t updated in almost six months… At first I felt guilty as most were friends from JLand… but I see them at Facebook… Then I realized maybe that is one reason I haven’t been posting as I needed to start my blog anew and dust off the old… I’ve also discovered I do have time to read blogs as barely a handful blog regularly…

My next step may be to clean up Facebook… A lot of friends I accepted for playing games however I don’t play games anymore so I’d like to unfriend them so I can concentrate on the friends I do know… but then I feel rude unfriending someone… so we’ll see…

I cleaned both bathrooms, washed the floors, vacuumed and did a load of laundry today…

Doing homework with son3 now…

He’s on the last page… He had 22 math problems, five English/language papers, two history pages and a geography page… it took him ninety minutes tonight… not too bad… I did coax him along though… not all of it's due tomorrow but now it’s done… he also has six reading workbook pages and two science pages that we haven’t done yet that are due later in the week…

We’re having leftover hamburgers for dinner… mmmmmmmm… Son3 picked pizza instead… son2 is still at college tonight…

maple-leaf-border

Tomorrow hubby wants to go to the grocery store again to finish up Thanksgiving dinner…

I need to go to work tomorrow to see about making next week’s schedule… hopefully someone is there with a clue on how we are scheduling Thanksgiving night/Black Friday… we are open from 8pm on Thanksgiving all the way through Black Friday… that will be an interesting schedule to make… hopefully at least the staff schedule is made so I’ll know what days I work and what times at least…

What’s on the DVR tonight… 2 Broke Girls, How I Met Your Mother, Hawaii Five O, Ghost Adventures, Joyce Meyer… We watched Bones and Mike & Molly last night…

No time for blogging yesterday as I had to work from 2-10pm… Special 6-9pm Friends and Family event, everyone’s invited… extra 10-15% off most everything… I felt it could have been busier but we had a good day…

Now I’m on another mandatory five days of vacation…

Today went by fast… we all slept in… boys were out of school today…

garnier-fructis-anti-dandruff

Hubby and I went to Target and Walgreens, hubby had already checked Wal-Mart yesterday looking for this shampoo that I had got him last Christmas… Ended up not finding it at the stores but able to order it online at Wal-Mart… so got two bottles and some work pants for me…

We did find a couple of Christmas ornaments for son1 and DIL… and some pumpkin bread mix and the turkey for Thanksgiving at Target…

IMG_0001

Hubby made his famous burgers for dinner and I made potato salad… plus french fries, onion rings and baked beans… we are so stuffed…

Firefly-Reunion-EW

We watched the Tenth Anniversary Special Reunion of Firefly…

The show was canceled in it’s first season but went on to make a movie called Serenity with the same characters…

Firefly

We own the first and only season on DVD…

We love this show…

Nathan Fillion is now on Castle…

Son3 is in the shower, back to school tomorrow…

Son2 has classes tomorrow too and was working on homework most of today and part of yesterday… He had to write a 750-1000 word paper on the Cuban Missile Crisis… I’m sure he knew about it before now but it’s much better to save homework to the last minute… Right… He’s waiting for me to finish this entry so he can use my laptop to hook to the printer to print it out…

We’ve finally adjusted to the time change part of the time change of getting up and going to sleep, but this so dark so early is a bit of a shock… It seems like it’s 9pm at 6pm but it’s just really dark out… I need to turn on more lights but I don’t want to waste electricity…

I’m off to get son3’s backpack ready for school and put some laundry away…

A nice quiet day today…

IMG_0002

I do know one bad thing about being home from work… I eat too much for one and work is where I get all my exercising from… I’m constantly walking, lifting, bending and just over all moving… at home I sit more… and eat Halloween candy and caramel apples… I gained two pounds this week… Hubby and I are going for a walk today…

IMG_0004

I have been hooked on smarties since last Halloween… and you can get them at the Dollar Store…

IMG_0005

Took some room pictures this morning…

This is hubby’s art room… he’s all moved in and has all his pictures up on the walls…

IMG_0006

The hallway of stuff to take to goodwill… I plan on adding more though…

IMG_0007

Son2’s room… He still has to put his posters/pictures and shelves up on the walls… and sort his closet and organize everything in it… he bought hangers so he can hang up all his clothes since he gave me his dresser as it wouldn’t fit in his room and he didn’t want to put clothes in drawers but hang them up… and that stuff straight back has to go in the closet…

IMG_0008

and all that stuff to the left of the plant needs to be sorted through and go into his closet… he has a lot of stuff… mostly toys that he is not ready to part with…

IMG_0009

Front room where son1 was staying… now the computer/game room…

IMG_0010

IMG_0012

Hubby made pumpkin pancakes and fried eggs for breakfast… yummy!

Hubby and I are going for a walk now…

Be back later…

IMG_0001

Hubby and I are back from our walk…

I brought the camera…

IMG_0003

Lots of clouds but no rain in our future…

IMG_0005

I was looking at everyone’s yards and telling hubby what we needed to do with our yard… we have really neglected our yard… my roses have barely bloomed the last year… I want to pull out the purple tree/bush we have that’s barely blooming and a bit crooked… I want to cut the wisteria way back and possibly move it to where the purple tree was… and completely cut back a purple vine we have growing next to the wisteria… trim back the two roses next to that… and the lemon tree is out of control again… then on the left side of the wisteria is a crepe myrtle tree and a Japanese maple tree… there is really a lot on the side of the yard and it all looks over our neighbors pool… sorry for all the droppings in the pool… and he has our permission to cut back whatever hangs over into his yard… hubby however likes all the plants and is reluctant to cut anything back… did I mention the wisteria was halfway up the crepe myrtle tree… I’m sure it will all grow back after we cut/move it…

IMG_0006

During the summer our air conditioner/heater unit needed to be looked at by the repair man… seems we need a new circuit board… so he temporarily rerouted the air conditioner to work without the circuit board for the summer… however if we want heat this winter we need to order a circuit board and have him install it… hubby just found a room/floor heater for the family room… we don’t use the heater at night instead using lots of flannel and blankets… so we’ll see if we can put off any repairs until hubby is working again…

IMG_0008

I’ve a headache the last two days… either too much time on the computer or too much forcing myself to relax… I still take Gabapentin for my neck twice a day… and ibuprofen as needed… no more physical therapy… I just have to know my limits…

IMG_0009

Some geese flew in to the canal overflow while we were on our walk…

IMG_0010

IMG_0011

IMG_0012

I’ve made some bean dip (two cans of chili, one can of refried beans, one can of tomatoes of your choice and one package of cream cheese, heat until all blended), pizza, heated the leftover bean soup by adding the leftover veggies, and there are still two turkey burgers left…

TrickRTreat_poster

We are planning to watch Trick or Treat… son3 says he is ready to watch scary movies…

The pizza is beeping in the oven…

I’ve also been posting in my photo blog:

Not Just Roses…

indianinthecupboard

I have been reading A LOT the past few years… I get a 45 minute lunch at work and I always have a book with me… I read a lot of Nora Roberts, I love her trilogies… and of course Stephen King, I still have Under the Dome to read… Son2 and I have been reading the Rick Riordan series… we just got the latest in the Heroes of Olympus series, The Mark of Athena… We also read season eight of Buffy in graphic novel form… we’ve just begun season 9 of Angel & Faith and Buffy… I also read Debbie Macomber, Bentley Little, Sheila Roberts, Jude Deveraux, Victoria Alexander and Luanne Rice…

84288

I bought the Indian in the Cupboard series for son2 when he was younger but he never read it… So I’ve been reading it… I just finished the fourth book… it’s really good… I vaguely remember the first book from when I was younger… there’s a lot more to the story than just the Indian in the cupboard and even his cowboy friend…

bankssecretindian

Yesterday I was in error of the grades I showed you for son3… those were from the teacher conference… and he did indeed bring up his grades from turning in missed work… His final report card was : Reading C, Language C, Writing C, Spelling B-, Math C-, Science A-, Social Science C… He is home from school now and has a three day weekend… but grounded from video games since he keeps forgetting at least once in the week to bring books and homework home that is needed for that night…

mystery-l

Yesterday I did get the laundry all put away… we had left over bean soup for dinner… we watched Arrow, Supernatural and The Big Bang Theory… I love having a DVR…

Today I organized my desk, sorted and filed the paper piles and paid bills… I also sorted the goodwill in the hallway, put the empty boxes in the garage and put the old mattress from son3’s bed in the garage…

Hubby and I were going to do yard work today but it rained a bit this morning and is just now 55 degrees outside… brrrrrrrrrrr… I love it…

I think I may have stepped a little closer to menopause as I may be having hot flashes… especially when one minute I am freezing and the next sweating… my friend at work calls them my own personal summer…

I’m making turkey burgers, french fries and pork & beans for dinner… and the clothes just finished in the dryer… hubby is watching his history channel, son2 is playing Halo 4 and son3 is showering to be ready for his comfy three day weekend of pajama days…

n41780

Above is the fifth and final book in the Indian in the Cupboard series… but I got a little distracted with the book below that son2 bought me… it is the final book in the Inn Boonsboro trilogy… SO GOOD!
