Long Short Day

Wednesday...
It is 73 degrees here today but we are looking forward to rain tomorrow... Hubby got son3 off to school this morning and then hubby was off to work... Son2 had a four hour delay due to the older kids still having testing... I called him yesterday to check on him since I told him to stay home since foggy day caused them to only have an hour of school for those who weren't testing and he didn't answer his cell phone... So I called the house and he didn't answer the house phone, called his cell phone two more times before he finally answered... He was on the school bus on the way home, he had gone to school... I yelled at him did he call his father and let him know he had gone to school... I hang up and turn to supervisor and laugh cause I had just yelled at son2 for going to school, lol... I guess all his friends ended up going for the one hour so he went too.... They only had first period and that was it... Today each class is a half hour and they get lunch...I am all thrown off by all the schedule changes between, school, hubby's work, my work, my inner body schedule... What did I do with my extra time yesterday morning waiting to go to work, I nagged hubby... Argh! Poor hubby... Words just fall out of my mouth and I can't stop them... I am beating myself up lately for not being more productive... I am constantly doing but going in circles... Even at work I am getting things done but it is the same over and over...
Yesterday I still could not work in the men's shoes to finish my project due to the special needs were still working there... So I swept the stockroom and rearranged the stockroom and got rid of some empty carts we no longer need... and then I opened boxes... the day went fast... Tomorrow I only work four hours but have a lot I want to do at work, lol...
Today I was off... I've eaten several times, I showered and got dressed, received all my gifts in facebook, only read three blogs so far, ordered hubby a Valentine treat from Cabela's, ordered son3 a Valentine treat from Walmart where I was stuck for over an hour cause either my computer froze up or the website, finally got the computer rebooted, ordered son2 a Valentine treat at Doubleday book club, washed all my bedding, vacuumed half the house, watered the plants, loaded the dishwasher, made a chocolate cake, cooking spaghetti, saved Holly from the mean kitties outside, and am now writing an entry... Now that may sound like a lot to read but it didn't even make a dent in my list... The sun needs to stay up longer so my days don't end at 5pm...
Last night hubby and I watched CSI, but paused the tape to watch Fringe... I guess we forgot what we were watching cause when the creature came out of the airplane bathroom, we both said why is there a creature on CSI, lol.... Fringe and CSI were both very good! Nothing on tonight so maybe we can watch part one of John Adams...
Now the boys are due home any minute... I need to finish fixing the spaghetti and see what son3 has for homework... Spelling words so far this week: groundhog day, underground, shadow, predict, season, valentine, loving, cupid, hearts, and harp... While I am helping him do his homework maybe I can pay some bills, update the checkbook and fill out the bday cards for February...
From Netflix today we should be getting Wanted and Space Buddies...

Quiet Saturday

Hubby just called, he's getting off early, so he is stopping at the store on the way home to pick up some eggs and bacon for tonight's dinner and hamburger buns and fixings for tomorrows dinner... Son2 is off riding his bike and checking on friends... Son3 is of course playing computer games... And I have just been letting the last day of January slip away while I have been on the computer most of the day... I did run the dishwasher and three loads of laundry and I finished Twilight, but other than that I have no expectations for the day or plans... I am on a timeout as the wrath of Mom appeared last night when the whole week caught up with me and the boys had told me 'no' just one too many times... Son3 is being unreasonable with this loose tooth and hubby sent him to bed early to think about why it was so terrible to just wiggle the tooth... He has only been on the computer an hour today and only after showing me that he is wiggling the loose tooth today... The other tooth is almost completely in and there is no reason why the baby tooth should still be in... And son2 in his new 15yr old teenage hormone mood swings doesn't know when it is wise to get out of the way of mom's hormone mood swings and simply got mauled over by the wrath of mom... Hubby wasn't safe either as I think his note of having to work late was the last straw, after I had been telling him all week of our family plans for Friday night and he didn't know all along he was scheduled to work late... I know the only constant thing is change but it seems every time I start to get into a routine something changes and I have to adjust again... I'm off, the dryer is buzzing at me and the dishwasher awaits another load... Plus the sun has come out finally and burned off the fog so I'm off to see what's going on in the backyard... Hopefully we will all behave tonight and we can watch the Narnia, Prince Caspian movie... and then tomorrow is February 1st, back to work and the Superbowl, so hopefully we won't be too busy....

TGIF
I am so glad it is Friday and this week is over... My house is a mess... I've gotten nothing done this week... Well I have almost finished reading Twilight that son2 borrowed from his friend... And son3 studied his spelling words all week. This week's words: people, easy, busy, taught, picture, listen, follow, focus, effort, computer, correct, details, review, noun and verb... Son2 had to pick his classes for next year and potential electives... Son1 had jury duty so I had to check the computer each day, but he never did have to go in... I forgot to mention when he came over for son2's bday that he told us he got another dog, a Dachshund/Terrier Mix, a girl dog... He already has Danny... And he has a hamster too.... Son3 has had a cold all week and now hubby is getting it... Hubby is still working his day hours, but didn't check the schedule and found out when he went in today that he was scheduled late, I don't understand how people don't look at their schedules to see what they are working... Hubby of course just assumes it's the same every week... But the people I work with don't even look until the day before... I like to know for the whole month, lol, but only know for the week... And now they are having to move people around again at his work, so he may have to go back to closing a few nights... I have mixed feelings... On the one hand I like him home earlier in the evening but he has not been getting any of his chores done... So we will see when he goes back to nights if between the two of us we get this house back in shape... I have had to get up several times to referee son2 and son3 who are bickering with each other and me.... grrrrr.... Son3 has still not pulled his tooth that has been loose since December, so I told him no games until he wiggles it... Oh the drama, just for him to wiggle it... Work has been dramatic this week too... On the one hand I have gotten lots done... However the company is going through some restructuring due to the economy and so three managers were let go this week at our store... I realized today that is was the same positions that replaced mine after I was restructured four years ago... It's unsettling what other changes we will go through this year... Meanwhile with hours low for it being only January and medical insurance going up, my paycheck is not much anyway... But I am fortunate to have it... And I am lucky to be here... On the way home today I was sitting in a long line of traffic waiting for the light to turn green, when out of the corner of my eye I see a flash of the car behind me as he has to slam on the brakes and swerve to the shoulder to avoid hitting me as he was going fifty and not seeing that the cars were stopped... At first I thought it was a young guy but after he got back in line behind me I saw it was a middle aged man... And then I noticed the lady behind him talking on her cell phone, last year they passed the law of hand free cell phones only, hers was not... Then to the left of me a truck drives past, going the wrong way, as it is only a two lane road, he continued driving past all of us waiting for the light until he reached oncoming cars and then he merged back in line with us... I'm so glad to be home where I can curl up comfy cozy and finish reading Twilight and watch some TV when hubby gets home and get a good night's sleep and wake up refreshed to tackle my list that has been waiting all week.... I miss Raisin....Happy Journaling...

So Much To Do
Saturday morning... Hubby is off to work. Son3 is conquering empires on his computer games. Son2 is reading The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury. I have been clicking around Facebook... I like clicking around on the applications, lol... Holly is sleeping next to me... It has been raining for days, yay! And tomorrow is son2's bday and I have lots to do today!!
This is going to be an organize my thoughts entry... I have so many to do lists and so many things I want to get done this year... But then things keep getting added to my to do list before I have a chance to check others off, lol... Some of it's hubby's to do list but I have to maintain his list too, so that's a job in itself... He put the tree away but still has all the ornaments to box up, he still has to make dentist appointments for the boys and take them in, but with his new work schedule he no longer has time in the morning to run his errands and do his chores before work... He also needs to make him and son3 eye checkup appointments... He has his yard chores and around the house chores to work on... Plus a few craft projects he started that need finishing... And he got a jury duty summons for next month...
Tomorrow is son2's bday, he'll be 15! I only have to work til 10am to set the ad and then it's just us having family day... Don't know yet if son1 is able to come or he has to work. I still need to make his chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and put up the decorations and balloons... We got him a game chair that hooks to the game systems and has speakers... Instead of wrapping it we are planning to have a treasure hunt so I will need to make clue cards to hide... Son2 has been texting a lot with his friend who is a girl that is a girlfriend to his friend... We tease him that shouldn't his friend be jealous... Anyway she was telling him what college she was thinking of attending and what she wants to be, so I guess he became worried cause he came to me last Saturday wanting to know what he was going to be and where he was going to college... So we talked for an hour or so and didn't make any decisions on what he was going to be but how to figure it out in the next few years... And that he will be attending Fresno city college for all his basic classes and to help him figure out what he wants to do before transferring to a University... She has also gotten him into reading again... He is a very good and fast reader and I tried over Christmas break to get him to read some books but he wasn't in the mood... Anyway they raced the other day to see who could finish Romeo and Juliet first, she won and so he had to drink the pickle juice, lol... Now he is reading The Illustrated Man so he can finish and read Twilight that she let him borrow... I may borrow it too but I'm not sure if I'm going to like this version of vampire... I've heard some love it but then a few don't know what all the excitement is about either...
I want this to be the year to finally get organized and get on a routine... something like wash floors on Monday, clean bathrooms on Tuesday, etc... not save everything for my day off and end the day with a headache cause I didn't get it all done.... I also want to make more time for me to have a morning and nightly me regimen of manicures and facials and exercise and such... I've been reading more on the St. John's Wort and I am going to start taking it at night before I go to bed and then in the morning take my multivitamin and a vitamin D to battle the lack of sunshine... I so can't wait for the days to continue to get longer as then I will be sure to get more done... I was back to falling asleep at 8pm this week while I was watching my shows... I taped them all though so we are all caught up except Ghost Whisperer and I missed taping CSI cause Bones came on twice, last weeks and this weeks... But I already found CSI online so we can watch it...Thursday, January 22, 2009
Thank You
Thank you to everyone for all your wonderful thoughts and comments for Raisin.... Being an original AOL kitty he was loved by many... I still can't believe he is gone... I cry... I get mad... I'm just glad we found him or we would still be wondering where he is... I thought I would be mad at Holly but she has been a comfort... I did ask her though if she sent the mob after Raisin as they really didn't like each other... That's what makes me the saddest is that Raisin's last few weeks were spent being mad at Holly for taking over 'his' house... I have already cleaned Raisin's stuff out of the house... His boxes, his bags, his toys... I downloaded the pictures from my camera yesterday and forgot I had taken some pictures of him and a couple of movies... :( I did go to Target yesterday and got Holly a pink litter box that came with a pink bowl and pink scooper... But she hasn't used it yet... and she barely goes outside unless we are with her so I don't think she does those things, lol.. or just has a bladder of steel... She gets to stay in the house at night now and will probably be a true indoor cat... I did tell her though that we will no longer be buying anymore Whiskas pouches as those were Raisin's, so she will just have to enjoy the dry and can food... Yesterday I planted the bulbs finally and she was outside with me... Why do long hair cats think they are dogs, lol... Kirby did too... I had dug the holes for the bulbs and was covering the dirt back over them and she started to help me... Not just scratching in the dirt but actually putting dirt back into the holes... She is such a character with her little grumpy self... I feel like I am betraying Raisin by accepting her so much... I know... It's ok....
One good thing finally happened this week... After 66 days, Chuck finally came... I still have a headache and my head and ears are burning off though... I have to tell you though it is a relief... I know I'll be 45 this summer and it's all part of the change and hubby has been snipped but God does have a sense of humor and you just never know... But I do know that I do not want anymore babies please... No carseats, diapers, formula, daycare, school, homework... I'm ready for me time and hubby time in my old age, lol... So we've been a bit stressed about that lately and snapping at each other, me and hubby... I was having nightmares even and wondering if that was the reason for gaining 9lbs... But no it was just from eating too much over the holidays and Chuck not coming... As I've already lost 3lbs this week... and started back to doing crunches... no excuses any more!
Speaking of hubby, remember when he was sick, we think it was from the peanut butter recall... He went grocery shopping on Monday and bought some Little Debbie nutty butty bars that I made him throw away cause $1.50 was nothing compared to dieing... We did a bit of research online of the recalls out of curiosity and a bit of discussing over that little box of nutty butty bars... And then moved on til Tuesday night when hubby realized that we had a package of Keebler peanut butter chocolate cookies that he had eaten two of right before getting sick... Ya think! I threw them away yesterday...
Lots more to share for the week but The Simpsons are over and it is time for homework... Not too much tonight and son3 did good this week with the spelling words having only two days to study and me yelling last night... And lots of good shows on tonight: Bones, CSI, Smallville, Supernatural....
Tomorrow is Friday and more time for playing...

Friday!!
The boys walked in the door from school today and went straight to their games, lol... son3 said he had a great day! and then son2 said I had a good day too, lol.... They then came back out, each got a chocolate chip muffin and went back to their games... I had teriyaki chicken, rice, veggies and tomato soup... They said they weren't hungry... Of course in a bit when I tell them to take showers, their response will be, 'but we didn't have dinner'... My dinner was yummy, however I spilled teriyaki sauce on the floor, then on my sleeve, then I dropped chicken on the floor, and spilled my soup.... Sheesh, lol...
This week went by so fast at work... I have so much to do, which is good, makes the days go fast... The last two days I have spent putting all the men's work boots back in their boxes and matching up all the pairs back together... And making new displays... Next week I have two more rows of men's work boots and then I can move on to men's dress/casual shoes... Meanwhile the boxes are piling up waiting for me to open them... I only worked on them for about a half hour today... Now I am off tomorrow and then Sunday is set the ad day...
I have had a headache today and my head and ears are burning... I'm sure I could stick my head in a snowbank and burn off all the snow you all are having, lol... Isn't being a girl so much fun... I am also on day 63 of no chuck... And I am mad at myself for gaining nine pounds over the holidays... I was one pound away from my first goal and now I am back where I was and then some... argh... But just gotta get my head back in the right place and back to whatever it was I was doing that was working... More moving at work, heave those boxes... and get out of the eating habit I got into during the holidays... and I have slipped back into too much soda, not cola but just different flavored sodas... More Water!! Back to crunches!!
We watched Smallville and Supernatural last night... They were both very good!! Still have to see CSI and Bones... Tonight is Ghost Whisperer and Numbers...
Lots on my to do list tomorrow... It has been so nice lately with temps almost to 70degrees... I'm just happy the sun is out! I know, I know... You guys have snow and you are freezing... I'm sorry! We could all of a sudden turn cold again and get gray skies... No seasons here just different temps... At least when the snow melts, you know it's spring, lol... I'm trying to decide when to plant my bulbs before I miss spring and we go right to summer of 110 degrees... That's our seasons: 42 degrees, week of spring, 110 degrees, week of fall.... So I'm thinking maybe tomorrow plant the bulbs, but hubby hasn't finished raking the leaves yet, see still fall here too... And a bit of baking... a bit of cleaning... a bit of reading with son3... and a lot of blog reading...
According to hubby's new schedule he will be home any time now... No late night for me on the computer any more on Friday's...

Back to Reality...

He was so crazy and funny and down to earth... He talked with everyone and answered any questions and was just like a regular person... Of course the first place they filmed was the store entrance right into shoes... So supervisor and I were quickly clearing the clearance tables out of the aisles and making the clearance woman's boots look presentable... Of course when the show airs it will be March 8th and we will have all the sandals out by then... They did three takes but liked the first one best... It was all women who were friends and family to the family of the makeover... They were pretending that they just arrived to shop with Michael... Of course all the shopping was done last week, however they did buy about four more carts of stuff before they left... Even Michael bought some socks and things for himself... We Sears groupies followed the crew around from 7am til the store opened at 9:30am, however they were not done filming to a bit later... Next they filmed the woman entering the brand central area to look at washer and dryers, of course that was by the men's work boots that you remember was way messy cause I was gone a week and the men's underwear, that's why Michael was shopping... Then they went to the washer and dryer area where they stayed for over an hour doing take after take... It was so funny cause nothing is rehearsed, Michael just comes up with some ideas, of course he does this all the time, and then they try to see what works best... They then went back to do one more take of the entrance into the store by shoes and then one more take of entering the brand central department by men's boots... By then the store was opening so I had to go to work... They went to film the woman and Michael going down the escalator to Home Fashions and then more filming in Home Fashions... So we will see what actually airs when they premier the show on March 8th...Saturday, January 10, 2009

A-Z Photo Challenge- T
Time for Martha's A-Z Photo Challenge for the letter T...
To Play visit Martha at Menagerie...
I started thinking about T as soon as I had finished R and found myself at a block... You would think there were a lot of things that start with T, right... I figured since I was on vacation I would find something really great but there was nothing in the house or in the yard... Of course I thought of tummy, teeth, toes, turtle... but none of them were very exciting or available to photograph... So when we decided to go to the snow for the day I told everyone to be on the lookout for T's...
Of course we weren't on the road ten minutes and son3 started naming everything that started with a T and then son2 and hubby started in also, lol...
Did you notice the sign above... It doesn't say 'Not a through road'... It says 'Not a through toad'... It's a real sign, I didn't alter it... How many times have we been on a picnic and did we never notice this sign was wrong, lol, or that it would be perfect for Martha's Photo Challenge...
So as you scroll through the slide show as we travel to Yosemite National Park for a trip to the snow in Wawona at the Yosemite Pioneer History Center; notice the palm trees, the tundra, the twisty turning roads, the trucks, the trailers, the treacherous roads, the towns of Coursegold and Oakhurst, the pine trees, the tree tops, the mountain tops, two trees, ten trees, twelve trees, twenty trees, two hundred trees, taunting, teasing, torturing, train at Yosemite railroad, picnic tables, throwing snowballs, teaching of throwing snowballs, trails, tipping trees, toppled trees, timber, telephone poles, tinkling toilets, temper tantrums, turnouts for passing, teepees and don't forget to support our troops....

Hubby's pictures of our trip to the snow... We usually go to Shaver Lake to play in the snow but we thought we would try Yosemite this year... So we stopped at the Pioneer Yosemite History Center in Wawona where we go for picnics in the summer and we had the whole place to our selves... The hotel we were thinking of staying in is not the one there: they only had weekends available and the last time I checked most of the rooms had shared bathrooms... We want to stay at the Tenaya Lodge (http://www.tenayalodge.com/)... They have rooms and cottages and only about $120.00 a night and they are located just two miles outside the park entrance... Where we were sledding is the golf course... Since these are hubby's pictures there are pictures of me, of course he doesn't warn us that he is taking pictures, lol... Enjoy! and then I still have over two hundred of my pictures to share and more videos, ones of me and hubby sledding too....

Valley families on ' Makeover' list
One will be picked from 5 finalists for new home

FRESNO -- A local homebuilder is teaming up with a popular television show to build a house for a family in the central San Joaquin Valley.
De Young Properties will join ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to build a house in seven days. Jerry De Young said five families in the valley are finalists, and one will be surprised with a visit by show host Ty Pennington and his team Thursday.
The premise of the show, in its sixth season, is that a team of celebrity designers collaborates with a local contractor to tear down the home of a family in need of a better place to live and replace it with a home that suits their needs.
De Young has constructed more than 7,000 houses in 34 years of business, but this project is unique in two ways: its speed and the amount of volunteer commitment.
The builder's staff and nearly all of its trade partners have agreed to donate time and materials, said Paula De Young, a company principal.
The homebuilder is issuing a call for volunteers to help on the job site and in the following areas: people to serve five meals a day to people working around-the-clock; runners to supply laborers with water; crews to keep the site clean; people to keep track of supplies at the staging area; and people to fill miscellaneous roles.
Volunteers must be at least 18.
"Extreme Makeover" approached De Young to lead the project because the builder is involved in other charitable projects. Two weeks ago, De Young donated a $300,000 house as part of a fund-raiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. It made a similar contribution in 2007 and also will build a house in 2009. "To build a quality home in just seven days for one deserving family is the Super Bowl of home building, and we were honored to say 'yes,' " Jerry De Young said.
City officials in Fresno say they are prepared to help "Extreme Makeover" if a resident is selected. "If it is a family in Fresno, we will get our folks together and make sure the project runs smoothly within the time frame," said Georgeanne White, Mayor Alan Autry's chief of staff.
De Young said the show is responsible for handling the necessary building permits and other inspections.
De Young said the episode will be on television sometime in March, more than a month and a half after the project is completed.
'Extreme Makeover' has enough volunteers: 3,800

No more volunteers are needed for the ABC reality show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." The response for volunteers for the local build for the show has been overwhelming, according to Paula De Young, executive vice president of De Young Properties, which is overseeing the project.
More than 3,800 local residents have stepped up to volunteer their time to build a home for a local family. The family selected to get the new home will be revealed Thursday.
There are so many volunteers to work on the local project that shifts will be only four hours long in contrast to the normal eight-hour shifts used on other builds. This doubles the number of locals who will get to be part of the television program.
"We thank the entire community for stepping up to the plate and appreciate everyone's involvement and patience as we coordinate this exciting build," De Young said in a news release Tuesday.
Those who will be working on the home will be notified within 48 hours with more details and their assigned times.
Demolition is slated for Saturday. The family will return to their new home Jan. 15. Information on how to visit the location during the process as a spectator is available online at http://www.blogger.com/www.deyoungproperties.com, as is how to be a sponsor.
Coordinators will keep contact information on file in case other volunteer opportunities arise with the project.

Walmart and Facebook

Last night we ended up watching Shanghai Knights, so funny with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson... The chicken I made was quite good except for I cooked it upside down, lol, hubby pointed it out... The mashed potatoes, veggies and Texas cheese toast were good too... Today I was up bright and early at 7:30am, but played on the computer til almost 11am... Hubby and the boys did not get up til 9:30am and 10am... We had a quick breakfast, took our showers, got dressed and headed out to Walmart about noon... Hubby found huge ornaments for the tree in the front yard at 75% off, new sneakers for son3 and two short outfits for son3 for the summer on clearance, jeans for son2, cat food was on sale so Raisin will be happy, got DVD-R's to see how to tape our VHS to DVD, storage container for the extra Christmas decorations we bought this year, photo paper, son2 bought the Sims 2 PC game with his Christmas money, son3 bought a couple of little figures with his, BBQ chips we ate in the car on the way home, and chicken enchiladas and lasagna that we are fixing for dinner tonight... It is cooling on the stove as I write and some more Texas cheese toast is toasting... We finally got home about 3:30pm and hubby raked leaves and put more Christmas away... Me and the boys were hungry so we heated up some chicken and now the boys have been on games ever since...
I have been playing on Facebook on and off all day... Thank you to all who have joined as friends and left a comment or two... I think today was the first day that I really felt like I knew what I was doing, lol... Still need to update my profile and see what all gadgets are available... I was putting names of people I know in the search, cause that's what you do, right, and I kinda got freaked out... I have been in touch with the old gang from junior high off and on for the last thirty years or so except for one friend that I lost touch with in 1984, her choice... Well I typed in her name and she came up as the first person still with her maiden name, I was pretty sure it was her in the picture, clicked on her friends and recognized a mutual friend... last we knew each other we lived in Texas... her location is now listed as Los Angeles Ca, just a skip and a jump up the road from me... No, I didn't click to invite her, she wouldn't know my married name anyway... I just am kinda in shock, I have always wondered what happened to her... Plus the person we had has a mutual friend, I clicked on his friends and there was the guy I had a crush on in Jr. high but he didn't have a picture just the one facebook supplies.... So I guess I could say I had a big day on Facebook today, lol...
The boys have tried on their snow boots and they still fit... Now we are just rounding up hats and gloves and making a list of everything to pack up in the car tomorrow... It rained all day here today, cause we only had a 10% chance, which means it snowed up there... they are saying carry chains, although I checked the road conditions for Yosemite and it said all clear... But we will only go as far as the van can go as we don't have chains.... So we will see what we can see and enjoy our snacks and a drive out and about...
Son2 is wanting to look up cheat codes for Sims 2, he is out of money, lol... and then we are off to eat lasagna and watch maybe something Star Wars, although son2 says no... so off to pick a movie... Tomorrow from Netflix we are getting Beethoven's Big Break, Eagle Eye and The Mummy 3... Although hubby just found the Die Hard 4 we didn't open yet but have seen before... Lots of action and him blowing stuff up...
Happy Journaling...
I am still here... DSL went down... we are so lucky we are on blogger now and it saves the entries... We have eaten the lasagna, had berry pie and Bruce Willis is almost over and the DSL finally came back on... Hubby and son2 are laughing... Bruce Willis is so funny, whether he is kicking butte or getting his butte kicked, lol... OK off to finish the movie and get the boys in bed... They will be in for a shock when I wake them at 7am...
