Long Short Day

It's 56 degrees here today and raining... My short four hours at work today were so long, lol... I set a small ad change, straightened up the sale tables, replaced some missing displays and opened boxes... And answered some questions here and there... We did sell 23 pairs of shoes the short time I was there... I thought it would never be 1pm though, lol... I picked up son3 from school and now he has been watching his PBS shows and I had lunch, I was starving... I had a pork steak sandwich with BBQ sauce, it was so good... and now I am munching on some tortilla chips... Son2 is now home and had some cereal and is now eyeing the chocolate cake... son3 is munching on fishies... We have leftover spaghetti for dinner in about an hour...
But first I am gonna have to pull son3 away from his shows to do homework... Last night we did homework for two hours... He had three pages of classwork to finish, he said he was not the only one, his regular math page, spelling words, sentences, timed reading and we read his library book... and we studied spelling words but not for very long as it was almost 7pm by then and he was headed to the bath... The last of the spelling words: search, rehearse, parent, sheriff, prove... Tonight we have one page of language, usual math page, timed reading, write spelling words and study the spelling words... He only got 6/15 right on the practice test today...
I was only able to pay one bill in between all the homework and washing pans last night so tonight I still need to pay bills and fill out bday cards for the month... Last night hubby and I were able to watch part 1 of John Adams... It is very good and I am relearning my history... Tonight we will watch Smallville, Supernatural and tape Bones...
The first daffodil has bloomed in the front yard... A couple more weeks and all the trees will start to bloom, full of pink and white blossoms...
OK I'm off to tackle second grade homework and my chores... and I think I am too full for dinner now, but that chocolate cake sounds good with ice cream while I am watching Smallville....

Wednesday...

It is 73 degrees here today but we are looking forward to rain tomorrow... Hubby got son3 off to school this morning and then hubby was off to work... Son2 had a four hour delay due to the older kids still having testing... I called him yesterday to check on him since I told him to stay home since foggy day caused them to only have an hour of school for those who weren't testing and he didn't answer his cell phone... So I called the house and he didn't answer the house phone, called his cell phone two more times before he finally answered... He was on the school bus on the way home, he had gone to school... I yelled at him did he call his father and let him know he had gone to school... I hang up and turn to supervisor and laugh cause I had just yelled at son2 for going to school, lol... I guess all his friends ended up going for the one hour so he went too.... They only had first period and that was it... Today each class is a half hour and they get lunch...

I am all thrown off by all the schedule changes between, school, hubby's work, my work, my inner body schedule... What did I do with my extra time yesterday morning waiting to go to work, I nagged hubby... Argh! Poor hubby... Words just fall out of my mouth and I can't stop them... I am beating myself up lately for not being more productive... I am constantly doing but going in circles... Even at work I am getting things done but it is the same over and over...

Yesterday I still could not work in the men's shoes to finish my project due to the special needs were still working there... So I swept the stockroom and rearranged the stockroom and got rid of some empty carts we no longer need... and then I opened boxes... the day went fast... Tomorrow I only work four hours but have a lot I want to do at work, lol...

Today I was off... I've eaten several times, I showered and got dressed, received all my gifts in facebook, only read three blogs so far, ordered hubby a Valentine treat from Cabela's, ordered son3 a Valentine treat from Walmart where I was stuck for over an hour cause either my computer froze up or the website, finally got the computer rebooted, ordered son2 a Valentine treat at Doubleday book club, washed all my bedding, vacuumed half the house, watered the plants, loaded the dishwasher, made a chocolate cake, cooking spaghetti, saved Holly from the mean kitties outside, and am now writing an entry... Now that may sound like a lot to read but it didn't even make a dent in my list... The sun needs to stay up longer so my days don't end at 5pm...

Last night hubby and I watched CSI, but paused the tape to watch Fringe... I guess we forgot what we were watching cause when the creature came out of the airplane bathroom, we both said why is there a creature on CSI, lol.... Fringe and CSI were both very good! Nothing on tonight so maybe we can watch part one of John Adams...

Now the boys are due home any minute... I need to finish fixing the spaghetti and see what son3 has for homework... Spelling words so far this week: groundhog day, underground, shadow, predict, season, valentine, loving, cupid, hearts, and harp... While I am helping him do his homework maybe I can pay some bills, update the checkbook and fill out the bday cards for February...

From Netflix today we should be getting Wanted and Space Buddies...

Foggy Day

Well we now have foggy day on top of our four hour test day delay which means the students going in for testing this morning now go in two hours later because the buses are delayed due to the fog and son2 now goes in six hours later since the freshman are not testing... The freshman go to school for ONE HOUR... Is the school crazy... I told son2 he could stay home... It is not even foggy here, clear blue sky, the sun is out and it will be 72 degrees today... Son3 has school however since his school is just across the street and they do not offer bus service anymore... So he is up and having pancakes this morning... I am waiting for hubby to get ready for work so I can get ready for work as I don't go in til ten today as we are on the same schedule and in each other's way, lol...
Yesterday was a crazy day at work... I didn't get as much done as I wanted... We have a special needs group that comes in a couple of days a week to dust and such and they were working in shoes yesterday and in my way so I couldn't everything done I wanted... Plus all the shoplifters were shopping yesterday and I was having to stay out of the way of security... So mostly I just opened boxes and stocked... Today I hope to work on displays, clean the stockroom a bit for the visit tomorrow and open more boxes...
Last night I worked til after five, came home and tag teamed hubby with homework and making dinner, checked email and fell asleep watching CSI Miami...
Now I'm off to load the dishwasher, load the washing machine and get me ready for work...
This fog better be gone tomorrow as I have a day off and everyone needs to be at work and school, lol....

Happy Groundhog Day!

In just a half hour or so we will know the fate of winter.... http://www.groundhog.org/ However here in Ca. tomorrow it will be 71 degrees...
Son2 has just walked back in the door from the bus stop, seems it is foggy day today... Tomorrow and Wednesday he goes into school four hours late due to the older kids are taking the high school exit exam... And changing both the boys early days from Wednesday to Thursday...
I have been going into work at nine or ten, instead of seven lately due to not many hours... Of course then I get out at four or five instead of two or three... Allowing for the evening associates to come in later, using less hours... So our home routine is all thrown off lately...
Hubby is off today and works ten to six the rest of the week, except for Saturday he is back to closing for a couple of weeks...
We hadn't planned on watching the Superbowl, son2 made us, but not for the game but for the commercials and he was waiting for the trailer for Transformers Two, lol... The trailer was shown sometime in the third quarter but by that time we were caught up in the excitement of the game since the score was so close it could go either way... I was hoping for the Cardinals since it was their first time to the Superbowl but they didn't even kick it into gear until the fourth quarter... So I figured the Steelers would win, they were so much bigger than the other guys, lol, huge even... Besides it allowed us to eat chips and dips, burgers, fries, potato salad and baked beans...
Foggy day just extended to three hour delay... It is not even foggy here, but the school is way out in farmland so the school goes by a different cities fog where it is probably way foggy...
Prince Caspian was very good the other night... Now it makes me want to read the Narnia books next after I finish my Stephen King, Just After Sunset...
Lots to do at work today... Make sure all the men's and athletic shoes have displays... Stock all the men's shoes and work boots... And I still have lots of boxes to open since I didn't get any done yesterday...
Hubby is getting son3 up for school... He still didn't pull the tooth yet...
I'm off to get ready for work...

Quiet Saturday

Hubby just called, he's getting off early, so he is stopping at the store on the way home to pick up some eggs and bacon for tonight's dinner and hamburger buns and fixings for tomorrows dinner... Son2 is off riding his bike and checking on friends... Son3 is of course playing computer games... And I have just been letting the last day of January slip away while I have been on the computer most of the day... I did run the dishwasher and three loads of laundry and I finished Twilight, but other than that I have no expectations for the day or plans... I am on a timeout as the wrath of Mom appeared last night when the whole week caught up with me and the boys had told me 'no' just one too many times... Son3 is being unreasonable with this loose tooth and hubby sent him to bed early to think about why it was so terrible to just wiggle the tooth... He has only been on the computer an hour today and only after showing me that he is wiggling the loose tooth today... The other tooth is almost completely in and there is no reason why the baby tooth should still be in... And son2 in his new 15yr old teenage hormone mood swings doesn't know when it is wise to get out of the way of mom's hormone mood swings and simply got mauled over by the wrath of mom... Hubby wasn't safe either as I think his note of having to work late was the last straw, after I had been telling him all week of our family plans for Friday night and he didn't know all along he was scheduled to work late... I know the only constant thing is change but it seems every time I start to get into a routine something changes and I have to adjust again... I'm off, the dryer is buzzing at me and the dishwasher awaits another load... Plus the sun has come out finally and burned off the fog so I'm off to see what's going on in the backyard... Hopefully we will all behave tonight and we can watch the Narnia, Prince Caspian movie... and then tomorrow is February 1st, back to work and the Superbowl, so hopefully we won't be too busy....

TGIF

I am so glad it is Friday and this week is over... My house is a mess... I've gotten nothing done this week... Well I have almost finished reading Twilight that son2 borrowed from his friend... And son3 studied his spelling words all week. This week's words: people, easy, busy, taught, picture, listen, follow, focus, effort, computer, correct, details, review, noun and verb... Son2 had to pick his classes for next year and potential electives... Son1 had jury duty so I had to check the computer each day, but he never did have to go in... I forgot to mention when he came over for son2's bday that he told us he got another dog, a Dachshund/Terrier Mix, a girl dog... He already has Danny... And he has a hamster too.... Son3 has had a cold all week and now hubby is getting it... Hubby is still working his day hours, but didn't check the schedule and found out when he went in today that he was scheduled late, I don't understand how people don't look at their schedules to see what they are working... Hubby of course just assumes it's the same every week... But the people I work with don't even look until the day before... I like to know for the whole month, lol, but only know for the week... And now they are having to move people around again at his work, so he may have to go back to closing a few nights... I have mixed feelings... On the one hand I like him home earlier in the evening but he has not been getting any of his chores done... So we will see when he goes back to nights if between the two of us we get this house back in shape... I have had to get up several times to referee son2 and son3 who are bickering with each other and me.... grrrrr.... Son3 has still not pulled his tooth that has been loose since December, so I told him no games until he wiggles it... Oh the drama, just for him to wiggle it... Work has been dramatic this week too... On the one hand I have gotten lots done... However the company is going through some restructuring due to the economy and so three managers were let go this week at our store... I realized today that is was the same positions that replaced mine after I was restructured four years ago... It's unsettling what other changes we will go through this year... Meanwhile with hours low for it being only January and medical insurance going up, my paycheck is not much anyway... But I am fortunate to have it... And I am lucky to be here... On the way home today I was sitting in a long line of traffic waiting for the light to turn green, when out of the corner of my eye I see a flash of the car behind me as he has to slam on the brakes and swerve to the shoulder to avoid hitting me as he was going fifty and not seeing that the cars were stopped... At first I thought it was a young guy but after he got back in line behind me I saw it was a middle aged man... And then I noticed the lady behind him talking on her cell phone, last year they passed the law of hand free cell phones only, hers was not... Then to the left of me a truck drives past, going the wrong way, as it is only a two lane road, he continued driving past all of us waiting for the light until he reached oncoming cars and then he merged back in line with us... I'm so glad to be home where I can curl up comfy cozy and finish reading Twilight and watch some TV when hubby gets home and get a good night's sleep and wake up refreshed to tackle my list that has been waiting all week.... I miss Raisin....

So Much To Do

Saturday morning... Hubby is off to work. Son3 is conquering empires on his computer games. Son2 is reading The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury. I have been clicking around Facebook... I like clicking around on the applications, lol... Holly is sleeping next to me... It has been raining for days, yay! And tomorrow is son2's bday and I have lots to do today!!

This is going to be an organize my thoughts entry... I have so many to do lists and so many things I want to get done this year... But then things keep getting added to my to do list before I have a chance to check others off, lol... Some of it's hubby's to do list but I have to maintain his list too, so that's a job in itself... He put the tree away but still has all the ornaments to box up, he still has to make dentist appointments for the boys and take them in, but with his new work schedule he no longer has time in the morning to run his errands and do his chores before work... He also needs to make him and son3 eye checkup appointments... He has his yard chores and around the house chores to work on... Plus a few craft projects he started that need finishing... And he got a jury duty summons for next month...

Tomorrow is son2's bday, he'll be 15! I only have to work til 10am to set the ad and then it's just us having family day... Don't know yet if son1 is able to come or he has to work. I still need to make his chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and put up the decorations and balloons... We got him a game chair that hooks to the game systems and has speakers... Instead of wrapping it we are planning to have a treasure hunt so I will need to make clue cards to hide... Son2 has been texting a lot with his friend who is a girl that is a girlfriend to his friend... We tease him that shouldn't his friend be jealous... Anyway she was telling him what college she was thinking of attending and what she wants to be, so I guess he became worried cause he came to me last Saturday wanting to know what he was going to be and where he was going to college... So we talked for an hour or so and didn't make any decisions on what he was going to be but how to figure it out in the next few years... And that he will be attending Fresno city college for all his basic classes and to help him figure out what he wants to do before transferring to a University... She has also gotten him into reading again... He is a very good and fast reader and I tried over Christmas break to get him to read some books but he wasn't in the mood... Anyway they raced the other day to see who could finish Romeo and Juliet first, she won and so he had to drink the pickle juice, lol... Now he is reading The Illustrated Man so he can finish and read Twilight that she let him borrow... I may borrow it too but I'm not sure if I'm going to like this version of vampire... I've heard some love it but then a few don't know what all the excitement is about either...

Son3 did well on his spelling words this week but then there were only ten: playful, loudly, quickly, quietly, thankful, foxes, branches, dresses, churches, and brushes... He may have only missed two on the final test yesterday... She never sends home the final tests so don't know how he does... He did get his report card yesterday: Reading C, Language B, Writing C, Spelling C and Math C... Everything went up except Math went down and that's his best so don't know about that unless it is because a lot of math is reading now and that may have hurt him... She said he is doing better each day so we may hold off the intervention awhile longer... As long as he is improving, I just hope he is able to keep up... Meanwhile he has had a loose tooth since before Christmas that is just hanging there... The other tooth has already come in. He is the most dramatic person when it comes to teeth, will not even let us look without all the screaming and yelling and wrestling just to see.... Yesterday due to the rain we had two power failures... The first just a minute but he is deathly afraid of the dark and was freaked out for the rest of the night... I handed out flashlights which was good cause just as hubby was getting home they went out again for about five minutes... But son3 had his flashlight on instantly so he was good, lol... He slept with his flashlight and his glasses, just in case... No more power failures though... The sun is coming out a bit now...

I want this to be the year to finally get organized and get on a routine... something like wash floors on Monday, clean bathrooms on Tuesday, etc... not save everything for my day off and end the day with a headache cause I didn't get it all done.... I also want to make more time for me to have a morning and nightly me regimen of manicures and facials and exercise and such... I've been reading more on the St. John's Wort and I am going to start taking it at night before I go to bed and then in the morning take my multivitamin and a vitamin D to battle the lack of sunshine... I so can't wait for the days to continue to get longer as then I will be sure to get more done... I was back to falling asleep at 8pm this week while I was watching my shows... I taped them all though so we are all caught up except Ghost Whisperer and I missed taping CSI cause Bones came on twice, last weeks and this weeks... But I already found CSI online so we can watch it...

My goals for the year so far: clean the laundry room, clean out all the drawers in the house ( I had hoped to do one drawer a day throughout January, but that never happened), clean out the kitchen cupboards, steam clean the carpets, reorganize the art/computer room, get rid of the paper piles, organize all the boys greeting cards and mementos into keepsake boxes, scan cards to use as graphics, reorganize my bookcases, put all my books on Shelfari, make the sugar cookies from Christmas, clean out the fridge, defrost the garage freezer, there must be thirty birds in the backyard finishing the last of the birdseed so add buy birdseed to list, shred old files from file cabinet (another January goal that didn't get done), wash laundry, wash dishes daily, keep the island and dining room table clear, vacuum, save all my pictures to CD's, daily homework reading and studying with son3, new plans for dinners now that hubby's work hours are different, pay bills and keep up on checkbook weekly not monthly, clean bathrooms, pull all papers together and file taxes, get ready for Valentine's, yard ready for spring..............

Today's list: wash dishes and pans, wash son3's sheets (did son2's on Wednesday), put away laundry, clean bathroom sinks, watch Ghost Whisperer, watch The Christmas Cottage (son2 and I still have not watched Gone with the Wind), put up decorations and balloons, make cake and make present hunt cards for son2's bday, run a scan and defragment computer and fill out bday cards for February...

But first have breakfast or is it time for lunch as I've been the computer for three hours already, lol... and we wonder why we get nothing done... I did fix son3's breakfast already though, waffles and chocolate milk... and what does son2 want for his birthday dinner... tonight's dinner is easy, since hubby is no longer home on Saturday morning for our weekly family breakfast, we just have it for dinner now...

I'm off to eat my Cheerios...

Thank You

Thank you to everyone for all your wonderful thoughts and comments for Raisin.... Being an original AOL kitty he was loved by many... I still can't believe he is gone... I cry... I get mad... I'm just glad we found him or we would still be wondering where he is... I thought I would be mad at Holly but she has been a comfort... I did ask her though if she sent the mob after Raisin as they really didn't like each other... That's what makes me the saddest is that Raisin's last few weeks were spent being mad at Holly for taking over 'his' house... I have already cleaned Raisin's stuff out of the house... His boxes, his bags, his toys... I downloaded the pictures from my camera yesterday and forgot I had taken some pictures of him and a couple of movies... :( I did go to Target yesterday and got Holly a pink litter box that came with a pink bowl and pink scooper... But she hasn't used it yet... and she barely goes outside unless we are with her so I don't think she does those things, lol.. or just has a bladder of steel... She gets to stay in the house at night now and will probably be a true indoor cat... I did tell her though that we will no longer be buying anymore Whiskas pouches as those were Raisin's, so she will just have to enjoy the dry and can food... Yesterday I planted the bulbs finally and she was outside with me... Why do long hair cats think they are dogs, lol... Kirby did too... I had dug the holes for the bulbs and was covering the dirt back over them and she started to help me... Not just scratching in the dirt but actually putting dirt back into the holes... She is such a character with her little grumpy self... I feel like I am betraying Raisin by accepting her so much... I know... It's ok....

One good thing finally happened this week... After 66 days, Chuck finally came... I still have a headache and my head and ears are burning off though... I have to tell you though it is a relief... I know I'll be 45 this summer and it's all part of the change and hubby has been snipped but God does have a sense of humor and you just never know... But I do know that I do not want anymore babies please... No carseats, diapers, formula, daycare, school, homework... I'm ready for me time and hubby time in my old age, lol... So we've been a bit stressed about that lately and snapping at each other, me and hubby... I was having nightmares even and wondering if that was the reason for gaining 9lbs... But no it was just from eating too much over the holidays and Chuck not coming... As I've already lost 3lbs this week... and started back to doing crunches... no excuses any more!

Speaking of hubby, remember when he was sick, we think it was from the peanut butter recall... He went grocery shopping on Monday and bought some Little Debbie nutty butty bars that I made him throw away cause $1.50 was nothing compared to dieing... We did a bit of research online of the recalls out of curiosity and a bit of discussing over that little box of nutty butty bars... And then moved on til Tuesday night when hubby realized that we had a package of Keebler peanut butter chocolate cookies that he had eaten two of right before getting sick... Ya think! I threw them away yesterday...

Lots more to share for the week but The Simpsons are over and it is time for homework... Not too much tonight and son3 did good this week with the spelling words having only two days to study and me yelling last night... And lots of good shows on tonight: Bones, CSI, Smallville, Supernatural....
Tomorrow is Friday and more time for playing...
Happy Journaling...

Sad News

We are very sad here tonight.... We've lost Raisin... He never came in last night when I called him... I was worried cause it's still been getting cold at night but he's spent many a night outside... But then this morning he wasn't waiting to come in... I even looked up and down the street thinking the worst... I worried about him all day while I was at work, the last I had seen him was Sunday morning and maybe a bit of his tail as he wandered through the backyard on Sunday afternoon... I just had a feeling all day that something had happened... It's normal for him to stay out all night but come right back in the morning, yelling at me for leaving him out... About 4pm I told son2 to ride his bike around the neighborhood to see if he could find him... Well he didn't get far as he opened the garage and from the angle he was at could see Raisin under the bush... Getting in and out of the cars in the driveway all day we hadn't seen him... We don't know what happened but it probably happened last night as he had been gone awhile by time we found him.... I'm thinking maybe he got hit by a car but we'll never know... And an odd thing is we lost Kirby just about this time last year... Hubby will take him to the SPCA in the morning... He would have been ten years old this summer... I'm gonna miss him so much... I can't stop crying... He was my best boy...

Friday!!

The boys walked in the door from school today and went straight to their games, lol... son3 said he had a great day! and then son2 said I had a good day too, lol.... They then came back out, each got a chocolate chip muffin and went back to their games... I had teriyaki chicken, rice, veggies and tomato soup... They said they weren't hungry... Of course in a bit when I tell them to take showers, their response will be, 'but we didn't have dinner'... My dinner was yummy, however I spilled teriyaki sauce on the floor, then on my sleeve, then I dropped chicken on the floor, and spilled my soup.... Sheesh, lol...

This week went by so fast at work... I have so much to do, which is good, makes the days go fast... The last two days I have spent putting all the men's work boots back in their boxes and matching up all the pairs back together... And making new displays... Next week I have two more rows of men's work boots and then I can move on to men's dress/casual shoes... Meanwhile the boxes are piling up waiting for me to open them... I only worked on them for about a half hour today... Now I am off tomorrow and then Sunday is set the ad day...

I have had a headache today and my head and ears are burning... I'm sure I could stick my head in a snowbank and burn off all the snow you all are having, lol... Isn't being a girl so much fun... I am also on day 63 of no chuck... And I am mad at myself for gaining nine pounds over the holidays... I was one pound away from my first goal and now I am back where I was and then some... argh... But just gotta get my head back in the right place and back to whatever it was I was doing that was working... More moving at work, heave those boxes... and get out of the eating habit I got into during the holidays... and I have slipped back into too much soda, not cola but just different flavored sodas... More Water!! Back to crunches!!

We watched Smallville and Supernatural last night... They were both very good!! Still have to see CSI and Bones... Tonight is Ghost Whisperer and Numbers...

Lots on my to do list tomorrow... It has been so nice lately with temps almost to 70degrees... I'm just happy the sun is out! I know, I know... You guys have snow and you are freezing... I'm sorry! We could all of a sudden turn cold again and get gray skies... No seasons here just different temps... At least when the snow melts, you know it's spring, lol... I'm trying to decide when to plant my bulbs before I miss spring and we go right to summer of 110 degrees... That's our seasons: 42 degrees, week of spring, 110 degrees, week of fall.... So I'm thinking maybe tomorrow plant the bulbs, but hubby hasn't finished raking the leaves yet, see still fall here too... And a bit of baking... a bit of cleaning... a bit of reading with son3... and a lot of blog reading...

According to hubby's new schedule he will be home any time now... No late night for me on the computer any more on Friday's...

Back to Reality...

Here I am on this nice sunny day off from work with hubby back to work and the boys at school.... It seems I lost control of the last three days... Saturday night hubby came home from work sick... We thought he had eaten something that didn't agree with him as he felt better by Sunday night... So Monday he did tons of yard work but then had a fever that night... Tuesday he wasn't much better so he called out from work but did manage to get to the grocery store and pharmacy and pick up a few items... Finally last night he was back to eating full meals and his chipper annoying self, lol, so today he was off to work...

Sunday the boys were way too overexcited for two boys that had to go back to school on Monday, where I was tired from being back at work and hubby wasn't feeling well... So I was back to yelling after not having to yell for three weeks... Turns out they were excited about going back to school to see their friends but didn't see the importance of getting ready for school and getting to bed on time the same way I did.... Son3 and I did manage to do 23 pages of his practice book over the weekend, with him fighting it all the way of course and me thinking oh great I can see how homework is going to be already... And he did read his library book all by himself: Henry and Mudge....

Monday the boys did great at school and each did their homework but I was still yelling... hmmmmm I have discovered that it is not work and driving to and from work with the crazy people that make me grumpy... It is school, teachers and homework that make me grumpy and I just take it out on work and crazy drivers.... Cause I was not grumpy for three weeks and I was going to work then and driving with crazy people... Sure I might have been annoyed at times but not yelling at the family grumpy... School, teachers and homework take up a big chunk of time and effort... For example son3 has already received ten of his fifteen spelling words, we have written them five times each and written them in sentences and last night he studied them more after his shower.... but today we will get five more and tomorrow will be the test and He Doesn't Know Them Yet... the words so far are costume, polished, handsome, discover, solve, mirror, traced, grown up, smear, creation and whispering... I don't remember son2 having these big of words in second grade... Actually tomorrow is the practice test and then Friday the test, but when he sees that he misses most of them tomorrow that just discourages him from even continuing.... He's such a perfectionist and expects to know them the first time...

Son2 is back into the swing of school and already lost his student ID card, hopefully he finds it today, he think it might be in his PE locker... Then yesterday he wanted to go the school soccer game that starts before school even gets out so by time he gets home and I was to drive him there (the game is not at the school) it would be half over plus it costs five dollars to see half a game, plus by time I drove back home, it would be time to pick him up as it takes twenty minutes just to get there.... So he wasn't see any reason to all this..... and was just mad... it was the same girl from the cabin in the snow texting him to come... I'm like how is she texting you if she is playing soccer.... lol... and then I ask him if he likes her, so he says she is seeing one of his other friends, but does admit he has a bit of a crush on her....

Sunday I was back to work, hoping for a quick day... I set the ad with the luxury of taking my time as it wasn't a big ad... Went to lunch and then after lunch worked on athletic mismates and then cleaned up the mess that was left from those that helped open boxes while I was gone... Monday I scanned the floor for the display report, talked with the supervisor to get caught up, filled the men's work boot table, as no one had stocked or cleaned men's shoes the whole week I was gone... Seems that is my area so no one touched it the whole week and a half I was gone, not even to clean for the customers at closing... I then began the task of putting all the boots back in their boxes and stocking but only got one row done... So Thursday and Friday that is my priority to have all work boots cleaned up and stocked... Before I went home on Monday I also cleaned up the stockroom, again cleaning up after the associates who did some things I normally do but left the mess... Then on Tuesday we had a surprise at work... I had completely forgot all about it... Actually figured it was passed and not gonna happen... Well Ty didn't come but Michael Maloney did and actually he was probably more fun than Ty...

He was so crazy and funny and down to earth... He talked with everyone and answered any questions and was just like a regular person... Of course the first place they filmed was the store entrance right into shoes... So supervisor and I were quickly clearing the clearance tables out of the aisles and making the clearance woman's boots look presentable... Of course when the show airs it will be March 8th and we will have all the sandals out by then... They did three takes but liked the first one best... It was all women who were friends and family to the family of the makeover... They were pretending that they just arrived to shop with Michael... Of course all the shopping was done last week, however they did buy about four more carts of stuff before they left... Even Michael bought some socks and things for himself... We Sears groupies followed the crew around from 7am til the store opened at 9:30am, however they were not done filming to a bit later... Next they filmed the woman entering the brand central area to look at washer and dryers, of course that was by the men's work boots that you remember was way messy cause I was gone a week and the men's underwear, that's why Michael was shopping... Then they went to the washer and dryer area where they stayed for over an hour doing take after take... It was so funny cause nothing is rehearsed, Michael just comes up with some ideas, of course he does this all the time, and then they try to see what works best... They then went back to do one more take of the entrance into the store by shoes and then one more take of entering the brand central department by men's boots... By then the store was opening so I had to go to work... They went to film the woman and Michael going down the escalator to Home Fashions and then more filming in Home Fashions... So we will see what actually airs when they premier the show on March 8th...

Then I spent the day doing price changes and stocking athletic shoes a bit... When supervisor went to lunch she said on the news they were saying that Extreme Home Makeover is at the store right not and she is thinking, no they left already... So when she came back and I went to lunch shoes was getting paged tons of times meaning we got busy while I was gone... you think maybe all the people who saw the news and came running in only to find they had left so they stayed to shop, lol... Tomorrow supervisor is off so it is just me working all day by myself... Hopefully we won't be busy and I can get work done and that everyone is at the house waiting for the family to come home and for them to say "Move that bus".... they suggest you get there at 10am and they move the bus between 2pm and 3pm...

Today I have been getting the house back in order and trying to relax but that has given me a headache, lol... I was up at 4:30am cause son3 had woken up and was afraid.... So I messed around with his TV for a few minutes trying to find him something to watch to get bad dreams off his mind but he gets the least channels with all this digital stuff... I told hubby I think I realize our mistake, we started the digital too soon since it has taken effect yet... So I think we are going to unhook the digital boxes and put the boys old TVs back in their rooms and when they finally start the new digital we will change over... I also realized that son3's TV was going a different direction than all the other TVs in the house so we moved the antenna to match the others and he is now getting a few more channels... Son2 was just telling me that it isn't any better going back since they are doing half and half with the analog and digital, so I don't know... So I got son3 back to sleep but I was up so came on the computer, got son2 off to school, got son3 up at 7am and ready for school... Hubby got up and got ready for work and took son3 to school... Then since I haven't really seen hubby for the last five days, I talked his ear off over breakfast until he had to leave for work... I've cleaned toilets, done four loads of laundry with two more to go, watered the plants, straightened up the family room from all the toys when the boys were on break, vacuumed, had lunch, read a few blogs, added a few blogs to read, picked up the boys from school, put teriyaki chicken on the stove to cook and I have been working on this entry off and on since before noon and it is now 3:30pm... Now I'm gonna go straighten up the island and kitchen table, do the dishes, finish making dinner of rice and stir fry veggies, eat dinner and do homework with son3...
This week starts hubby's new schedule at work again... He doesn't have to close any more on Fridays and Saturdays... But he goes in later each day and gets home a bit later... So we won't be having dinner all together every day again but then I can get the boys fed and then do homework and into showers... Before we were trying to get homework done before hubby got home and waiting til 6:30pm to eat dinner and that is just too late for me and the boys being we are at school and work way before hubby gets to work... So I'm hoping not to feel as rushed in the evenings now...
We did make time to watch Star Wars and Ghost Town... I can't believe I stayed awake and made it all the way through Star Wars, lol... And Ghost Town was so funny and had a few twists and turns... I did tell son2 if it was so funny, why was I crying, so there was a sad part or two also.... Next we have Bangkok Dangerous, The Illustrated Man and The Christmas Cottage...
Son2 did not find his ID card at school today and the rest of the spelling words are: threw, touched, pour, kitchen and radio...

A-Z Photo Challenge- T

Time for Martha's A-Z Photo Challenge for the letter T...

To Play visit Martha at Menagerie...

I started thinking about T as soon as I had finished R and found myself at a block... You would think there were a lot of things that start with T, right... I figured since I was on vacation I would find something really great but there was nothing in the house or in the yard... Of course I thought of tummy, teeth, toes, turtle... but none of them were very exciting or available to photograph... So when we decided to go to the snow for the day I told everyone to be on the lookout for T's...

Of course we weren't on the road ten minutes and son3 started naming everything that started with a T and then son2 and hubby started in also, lol...

Did you notice the sign above... It doesn't say 'Not a through road'... It says 'Not a through toad'... It's a real sign, I didn't alter it... How many times have we been on a picnic and did we never notice this sign was wrong, lol, or that it would be perfect for Martha's Photo Challenge...

So as you scroll through the slide show as we travel to Yosemite National Park for a trip to the snow in Wawona at the Yosemite Pioneer History Center; notice the palm trees, the tundra, the twisty turning roads, the trucks, the trailers, the treacherous roads, the towns of Coursegold and Oakhurst, the pine trees, the tree tops, the mountain tops, two trees, ten trees, twelve trees, twenty trees, two hundred trees, taunting, teasing, torturing, train at Yosemite railroad, picnic tables, throwing snowballs, teaching of throwing snowballs, trails, tipping trees, toppled trees, timber, telephone poles, tinkling toilets, temper tantrums, turnouts for passing, teepees and don't forget to support our troops....

The Secret

I know you are patiently waiting for the secret... But don't worry cause we didn't miss out on anything cause the secret didn't show... Before I left on vacation the supervisor told me that Ty was coming to our store to tape for the Extreme show here in Fresno but that we weren't supposed to know... Originally he was coming last Sunday but then they changed it to today... I was like darn, I'm gonna miss it... So after the supervisor came back from helping the other store getting ready for the VIPs coming to their store, this week we were getting ready for the VIPs coming to our store, Sears's VIPs, not just Ty... So I called the supervisor this morning to find out how it went and she said Ty didn't even come... Just personal shoppers who were supposed to come at 7am and they didn't show til 8:30am... They won't even be back til Monday to pick up their purchases and do any filming for the show... So on the up note I'll be back on Monday but Ty probably won't be coming... Meanwhile the store manager is still in a tizzy to get the store in ship shape as we are still expecting Sears's VIPs too between today and Monday... So there is the secret, sorry I got you all excited and then it was cancelled, lol...

Hubby's pictures of our trip to the snow... We usually go to Shaver Lake to play in the snow but we thought we would try Yosemite this year... So we stopped at the Pioneer Yosemite History Center in Wawona where we go for picnics in the summer and we had the whole place to our selves... The hotel we were thinking of staying in is not the one there: they only had weekends available and the last time I checked most of the rooms had shared bathrooms... We want to stay at the Tenaya Lodge (http://www.tenayalodge.com/)... They have rooms and cottages and only about $120.00 a night and they are located just two miles outside the park entrance... Where we were sledding is the golf course... Since these are hubby's pictures there are pictures of me, of course he doesn't warn us that he is taking pictures, lol... Enjoy! and then I still have over two hundred of my pictures to share and more videos, ones of me and hubby sledding too....

Chores

We had a great time in the snow yesterday... Still have more videos and lots of pictures to share... Today was hubby's last day of vacation so we did a bit of work around the house... Hubby made a big breakfast of eggs, kielbosa, hash browns and biscuits... Son2 washed the cars, I mowed the lawn and trimmed all the roses for the winter, hubby replaced the lights in the hallway as one had burned out wires, he likes the new ones much better, he also took down all the Christmas lights off the house, still have the tree left to undecorate and take down... Son3 is watching Beethoven Breaks Out and waiting for his request of Carl's Jr for dinner... So since we are all vacation today we will have a special treat of hamburgers and chicken sandwiches... The Mummy 3 last night was a bit darker than the first two and not as funny, but it did pick up in the middle and had some good special effects... Tonight we will watch Eagle Eye... Hubby is back to work the next three days and I have three days to get the boys back on track with regular bedtimes... Sunday I am back to work and Monday is back to school... Was going to do some practice homework with son3 today but got distracted with the yard work... Tomorrow I want to get back to cleaning and organizing the bookcases and cleaning off son3's desk... Maybe hang up their new posters and decide where their new shelves will go... Plus organize and post all the pictures from the snow... But now Carl's Jr is here so off to eat and have family time....

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is coming to the valley... They have narrowed it down to five finalists and tomorrow Ty will be knocking on the winners door maybe in Fresno... Then Saturday they start work and the family returns to their home Jan, 15th... The episode will air sometime in March... I know a secret but can't tell you til Friday... No, it's not my house, lol, nor do I know who's... And I did not volunteer, but it's still exciting...

Here is the website for the builders and updates:
http://extremedeyoung.com/

And here are two news stories that I pasted in:

Valley families on ' Makeover' list
One will be picked from 5 finalists for new home
By Sanford NaxThe Fresno Bee
last updated: January 02, 2009 12:01:47 AM

FRESNO -- A local homebuilder is teaming up with a popular television show to build a house for a family in the central San Joaquin Valley.
De Young Properties will join ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to build a house in seven days. Jerry De Young said five families in the valley are finalists, and one will be surprised with a visit by show host Ty Pennington and his team Thursday.
The premise of the show, in its sixth season, is that a team of celebrity designers collaborates with a local contractor to tear down the home of a family in need of a better place to live and replace it with a home that suits their needs.
De Young has constructed more than 7,000 houses in 34 years of business, but this project is unique in two ways: its speed and the amount of volunteer commitment.
The builder's staff and nearly all of its trade partners have agreed to donate time and materials, said Paula De Young, a company principal.
The homebuilder is issuing a call for volunteers to help on the job site and in the following areas: people to serve five meals a day to people working around-the-clock; runners to supply laborers with water; crews to keep the site clean; people to keep track of supplies at the staging area; and people to fill miscellaneous roles.
Volunteers must be at least 18.
"Extreme Makeover" approached De Young to lead the project because the builder is involved in other charitable projects. Two weeks ago, De Young donated a $300,000 house as part of a fund-raiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. It made a similar contribution in 2007 and also will build a house in 2009. "To build a quality home in just seven days for one deserving family is the Super Bowl of home building, and we were honored to say 'yes,' " Jerry De Young said.
City officials in Fresno say they are prepared to help "Extreme Makeover" if a resident is selected. "If it is a family in Fresno, we will get our folks together and make sure the project runs smoothly within the time frame," said Georgeanne White, Mayor Alan Autry's chief of staff.
De Young said the show is responsible for handling the necessary building permits and other inspections.
De Young said the episode will be on television sometime in March, more than a month and a half after the project is completed.

'Extreme Makeover' has enough volunteers: 3,800
Tuesday, Jan. 06, 2009
By Rick Bentley / The Fresno Bee

No more volunteers are needed for the ABC reality show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." The response for volunteers for the local build for the show has been overwhelming, according to Paula De Young, executive vice president of De Young Properties, which is overseeing the project.
More than 3,800 local residents have stepped up to volunteer their time to build a home for a local family. The family selected to get the new home will be revealed Thursday.
There are so many volunteers to work on the local project that shifts will be only four hours long in contrast to the normal eight-hour shifts used on other builds. This doubles the number of locals who will get to be part of the television program.

"We thank the entire community for stepping up to the plate and appreciate everyone's involvement and patience as we coordinate this exciting build," De Young said in a news release Tuesday.
Those who will be working on the home will be notified within 48 hours with more details and their assigned times.
Demolition is slated for Saturday. The family will return to their new home Jan. 15. Information on how to visit the location during the process as a spectator is available online at http://www.blogger.com/www.deyoungproperties.com, as is how to be a sponsor.
Coordinators will keep contact information on file in case other volunteer opportunities arise with the project.

Walmart and Facebook

Last night we ended up watching Shanghai Knights, so funny with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson... The chicken I made was quite good except for I cooked it upside down, lol, hubby pointed it out... The mashed potatoes, veggies and Texas cheese toast were good too... Today I was up bright and early at 7:30am, but played on the computer til almost 11am... Hubby and the boys did not get up til 9:30am and 10am... We had a quick breakfast, took our showers, got dressed and headed out to Walmart about noon... Hubby found huge ornaments for the tree in the front yard at 75% off, new sneakers for son3 and two short outfits for son3 for the summer on clearance, jeans for son2, cat food was on sale so Raisin will be happy, got DVD-R's to see how to tape our VHS to DVD, storage container for the extra Christmas decorations we bought this year, photo paper, son2 bought the Sims 2 PC game with his Christmas money, son3 bought a couple of little figures with his, BBQ chips we ate in the car on the way home, and chicken enchiladas and lasagna that we are fixing for dinner tonight... It is cooling on the stove as I write and some more Texas cheese toast is toasting... We finally got home about 3:30pm and hubby raked leaves and put more Christmas away... Me and the boys were hungry so we heated up some chicken and now the boys have been on games ever since...

I have been playing on Facebook on and off all day... Thank you to all who have joined as friends and left a comment or two... I think today was the first day that I really felt like I knew what I was doing, lol... Still need to update my profile and see what all gadgets are available... I was putting names of people I know in the search, cause that's what you do, right, and I kinda got freaked out... I have been in touch with the old gang from junior high off and on for the last thirty years or so except for one friend that I lost touch with in 1984, her choice... Well I typed in her name and she came up as the first person still with her maiden name, I was pretty sure it was her in the picture, clicked on her friends and recognized a mutual friend... last we knew each other we lived in Texas... her location is now listed as Los Angeles Ca, just a skip and a jump up the road from me... No, I didn't click to invite her, she wouldn't know my married name anyway... I just am kinda in shock, I have always wondered what happened to her... Plus the person we had has a mutual friend, I clicked on his friends and there was the guy I had a crush on in Jr. high but he didn't have a picture just the one facebook supplies.... So I guess I could say I had a big day on Facebook today, lol...

The boys have tried on their snow boots and they still fit... Now we are just rounding up hats and gloves and making a list of everything to pack up in the car tomorrow... It rained all day here today, cause we only had a 10% chance, which means it snowed up there... they are saying carry chains, although I checked the road conditions for Yosemite and it said all clear... But we will only go as far as the van can go as we don't have chains.... So we will see what we can see and enjoy our snacks and a drive out and about...

Son2 is wanting to look up cheat codes for Sims 2, he is out of money, lol... and then we are off to eat lasagna and watch maybe something Star Wars, although son2 says no... so off to pick a movie... Tomorrow from Netflix we are getting Beethoven's Big Break, Eagle Eye and The Mummy 3... Although hubby just found the Die Hard 4 we didn't open yet but have seen before... Lots of action and him blowing stuff up...

Happy Journaling...

I am still here... DSL went down... we are so lucky we are on blogger now and it saves the entries... We have eaten the lasagna, had berry pie and Bruce Willis is almost over and the DSL finally came back on... Hubby and son2 are laughing... Bruce Willis is so funny, whether he is kicking butte or getting his butte kicked, lol... OK off to finish the movie and get the boys in bed... They will be in for a shock when I wake them at 7am...

SUNday

I did it and it was a piece of cake and now I am back on vacation... Actually this is my real vacation... Last week was my two days off, the holiday and then a vacation day since I went to work today... The hard part was getting up at 4:30am this morning since I have been sleeping in til 8 or 10am... I had to take down the old ad, put up the new ad, change quite a few tables and print new signs, so it was 11am by time I went to lunch and that was with the 10am person helping me... Then after lunch I had a few boxes to open that luckily lasted me til it was time to go home at 2:30pm... It was quieter than staying home with the boys, lol... When I left for work this morning it was way foggy but by time I got off work the sun was shining away, yay, we have blue skies again... I came home to hubby and the boys playing with Nerf dart guns, I could hear them before I even opened the front door... They continued their game while I tried to talk to hubby and made me an egg sandwich... Now I have put the chicken in the oven to heat up and have potatoes boiling on the stove and hubby and son2 went to the store to get me cola, Raisin some cat food before he eats us and some bread and such to go with dinner... Son3 is playing with his Lego's he got for Christmas... We've decided not to stay over night in the snow... I don't want to leave Holly alone in the house with Raisin just yet and plus the idea of packing and unpacking just seems like a lot of work right now, lol... But we are going to go up for the day, probably on Tuesday we'll go to Yosemite... But first tomorrow I need to check and see if the boy's snow boots and such even still fit them... Plus we'll still need to get snacks and drinks and coolers ready to go... Today hubby took down and put away most of the Christmas decorations... Still the lights on the house to get down but it has been too wet with all the fog... And the tree is still up but he has slowly started to undecorate it... He'll be done by the end of the week, I'm sure... Son2's friend called the house phone when I got home cause seems son2 did not have his phone on him all day and missed two calls, lol... Son2's bday is at the end of the month and he will be 15, wow... we have been asking him what he wants that he didn't get for Christmas and there wasn't anything he didn't get for Christmas this year that he wanted... We had originally wanted to get him fish, he still has the fish tank set up in his bathroom waiting for fish but none of us know how to take care of fish and we didn't have good luck the last time we tried... So since son1 got a hamster, son2 has been thinking of a hamster and son1 had a hamster when he was a teen so we know how to care for one... anyway we are thinking of getting him a hamster cage for his bday and then letting him go pick out a hamster and hubby has been looking at the game chairs that have speakers and you plug your system into the chair, so maybe one of those... He was wanting a party but I said no, he could pick a friend or two and go to the movies on a day that is not his bday... Other than that our biggest decision of the evening is what movie to watch with dinner....
Happy Journaling...
